Thanks I appreciate it, but I snagged 2 pairs when the rumour first started swirling and before prices sky rocketed. Myself, the Mrs, my brother and a buddy are all going. It's going to be wicked.

Well, looks like Lazar will get a chance to play a bit. 5 min major for intent to injure for Hathaway, i'd say he gets two games for that as well...

That looked like it hurt too....

Funny how Gio gets two games for knee on knee against these guys, Hathaway 5 and a game, with possible suspensions against Wild. Dumba leaves his feet to hit Backlund in the head and nothing happens. We get another goal called off?? Swear deck is stacked. Nice goal Monny

Yup, when goals are hard to come by, you can’t be giving them away.

Apparently Smith hasn't learned the lesson...almost gets stung again and barely gets back in his net in time.

Wonderful.

Smith could have had that one....
He shows some flashes of brilliance but no consistency.

Smith gives up another five hole softy to seal the game. A very determined effort on his part tonight to make sure the team couldn't get back into it...

Maybe the challenge is going to save the day, and they can pull Smith before he does more damage...

Good goal...or a really really bad one, depending on your perspective. No 'timely' saves tonight, ol' Leaky was back in fine form.

Blame all you want on Smith but the whole team was off and sucked.
**** count was flattering. We luv shooting at the crest and stay in the outside.
Frustrating.

That loss is on Smith again, why he is fighting for a puck with a Dman, is beyond me. Also more long shots going in softies. Dybnic was good and our GT is letting in 50 footers.

I'll grant that it wasn't the greatest effort by the team overall, but wasn't bad either. With decent goal tending, there is momentum and a win there.

Smith has improved as the game went on. 3 goals in 15 shots and only 1 the next 9.

So, I can slightly understand getting caught out of the net. (More on that in a bit)

But that final goal was just BS. Something isn't right with him. No professional should miss a shot like that when the game is on the line. I get that stuff happens and goalies miss shots they should have had but this is not a "ONE OF" This is a distinct and noticeable habit. Did smith lose his mind after getting caught out? If so, that is a weakness that must be addressed.

As for Smith getting caught out. Doesn't it look to you all that he is actually fighting for the puck, I thought he had time to recognize he had screwed up and get back between the pipes? I don't think he was 'Stuck" I know he was not pinned but perhaps his stick was caught? Even so, drop the stick and get in the net.

Now that Smith has proved once again how unreliable he is, what has all this done to BSD? Is his confidence and smiley swagger been hurt? I really do think we need a 100% defined starting Goalie for the playoffs. Someone you ride to the end. I don't think this is the way of going about it.

A interesting theory was brought up. If you as a manager think that Smith is at least equal to BSD and you can pin BSD to the bench, you are showing the world, BSD and his agent he is not worth paying starting $$ to. Is it not in the Flames best interest to keep BSD expectations for a monster contract down a bit? Could $$$ be in play here by it influencing playing time?

I dunno, playing head games with BSD and his agent because of future money considerations is kind of strange for timing, when they are looking at a legit playoff run if they can straighten up some goal tending issues, and goal scoring issues (Neal)....i find it an unlikely scenario....speculation.

But if you as a Manager 100% believed that the 2 were equal why would you play BSD?

There is something going on here. Why the deep seated belief in Smith? Why keep trying to get him back in the game? Straight up, BSD is being treated like a second class citizen and I don't know why. He wins, he sits on the bench, he gets a shut out and he sits. Jesus......

Management has shown over and over and over that Smith is the Golden child. He is the horse they really really want to run with. He will cost us a series at some point.

Just my opinion, but They need to get Smiths confidence going for the playoffs.
He has lots of playoff experience. BSD has no playoff experience, if you deem him as #1, and he has a crash& burn . Then you have to fall back on Smith with a confidence problem. I would rather go in with an experienced tender. I like BSD a lot, but he has also had a couple head shaking games in the last while
