Man oh Man, is Brad testing my confidence in him.....
I just hope there is some sort of $$ advantage here. I see that Lucic has a really large signing bonus and have no idea when that is paid?
If the Oilers have already paid him that, then from a cash flow POV (Not salary cap) its a great win.
Seems I am really digging for positives here......
His AAV total is $24,000,000
His yearly salary total is $7,500,000
IF that bonus has already been paid out, its a win for the cash flow.
James Neal had no bonus scenario. and is owed $23,000,000.

Calgary gets the bonus draft pick as well, Oil picks up some of Lucic's contract. Treliving for mayor!

So basically Oilers paying Neal $6.5m a year and Flames playing Lucic $5.25m for same 4 years. In actual cost Lucic got paid $3mm by the Oilers last week so we actually only play Lucic $3mm this year. So a little cap savings of 1/2 million per year and around $5mm in actual cash savings. Still feel slapped in face lol
Right now we have too many LW so hoping we have something good in hopper but after this fiasco don’t have allot of faith in Brad

Neal needs to score 21 or more goals AND 10 more than lucic for the 3rd. Or no pick.
Just saw that ^^^^^

Anyone checked on James Neal last few hours? He may need to be watched, I hope he isn't alone.
Players are refusing trades to go to the Oil and Oil players are demanding out. Poor bugger.

Apparently the fans don't notice the long faces, and look of depression every game, from the captain down. Looks like they can't wait for every game to be over let alone the season.
Wasn't Kas asking out last year, and now Puljujärvi refuses to play at all for them? Will go back home. players this off season refusing to go there.
But all is roses I'm sure

The way the flames media trashed lucic’s character last year every chance they got it will be interesting to see how he handles that. I still can’t believe that Edmonton actually found a way to move him.

Ahh, thanks for that. I heard it on the radio, didn't hear the details. Clearly evens the trade, a 3rd & a roster player from your team to theirs generally gets you an upgrade in a future deal.

Who's demanding out? Pool Party? You said player. He doesn't count.
Treliving going to make the cap and sign all his guys? Po'd he'll have to keep Lucic as a counter during the expansion draft, can't trade him, and won't be able to buy him out when he flops? That 6m should make reupping Jonny, Lonny, Connie, and Bonnie interesting down the road.
Best thing about Neal is his buyout is reasonable if He flops. Holland is probably 2/3 of the way through a good bottle of scotch about now.

So oiler fans just have to pray Neal gets 11 and the pick is waived. Nice.

You people do realize that lucic had better stats, including advanced numbers playing on one of the worst teams in the league, playing with absolutely terrible linemates than neal right? who played on the second best team with a much better supporting cast. Not to mention he had around 250 hits. Good luck with neal the bum, you're still not gonna make the playoffs. Cant wait to see the tears after playing against chuck and looch now haha biggest winner here is looch i bet he's jumping for joy not having to go back to deadmonton.

According to sources...Neal expressed interest in going to Edmonton as he’s training buddies with McDavid.
Neal’s best season was after he got sent via expansion draft as an unneeded reject.
Imma betting that feeling of redemption is running deep as he trains like a demon this summer.
He even admits that summer 2018 he basically took off and never was able to get back to form...... should be real real interesting.

^^ this,,, gotta love how the Flames fans can only trash Edmonton in trying to make the trade look uh..okay (?)... I'm pretty sure there was a Leaf player that nixed a trade to the Flames not long ago. Might work out okay for Lucic, he's not getting any younger.. maybe Chuckie can teach him how to turtle instead of fight,

Lol. Have you watched him play lately? He hits yes. Slow. Fumbles with the puck. Fans on his shots, falls on his arse. Your right about one thing.... he is the winner in these deals.

Doesn't it bother you just a tad that a player signs a big free agent contract yet feels no responsibility to train in the off season to live up to the commitments of the contract?
Perhaps it speaks to character or maybe a lack of same?
