Default Any moose action yet

Hey just wondering if anyone has had or seen any sign of the moose rut yet. I am up in Fort Mac and was out a couple weekends ago with no sign of anything. I am planning on going out again this weekend but it has been pretty warm up here and I don't think the rut has really started yet. Anyone else seen any sign of it getting fired up??????

I've seen moose running like crazy the last few days. Definitely starting to heat up with the pre rut.

Talked to a buddy that was hunting in the north and said the cows were calling and the bulls were grunting.

No dice yet, had cows close but bulls wont move in.

Had a nice one about 10 days ago at 80 yards grunting but couldn't weave an arrow through the willows...

Default moose

Guys, just for the record elk rut in September, moose in October and deer in November. Some prerut activity can start a few days earlier usually by young bulls in high population areas that dont know the girls are not willing yet.

I was out last week and a cow put on a steady 15 min set of moans...I walked for half an hour after that and then the grunts and tree breaking began...ended up being right between the 2 of them...never saw the cow, but the bull crossed the cut line I was on about 30yds ahead of me. Looked like full sexy time was on for moose in 522

Got a young bull to come 300 yds across a stubble field tonight. Got him almost into knife range.

Should know pretty quick.
Here's hoping.

Was out on Thursday, went to several of my favorite areas. Cow called in all of those areas with no response, my guess is that next week will be much better then this week!

Default Moose Rut

I was hunting in 521 early last week and had a bull grunting close by. Did a couple cow calls and he was within 40 yards really fast. It is on there anyways!

Hit 314 and burned the tread off the boots. Never heard a peep. Saw a few cows and small bull but nothing making any vocalizations at all. Can't be long though. Had best luck around October 9-20

Checking trail cams in 516 on Saturday, found one more P hole in our moose area, did some calling, no response, didn't see any moose other than some fresh tracks. I suspect this week it ramps up. Sure got a lot of rain since i was there 2 weeks ago.

I hunted hard all weekend and didn't see one.
I'll be out again this weekend in a different spot to try again.
