Default another vid camera thread

I'm interested in starting to film some of my own hunts with kids and friends and would like to know what others are running for cameras . Don't want to break the bank but I have been told that I should get something with a minimum 20x op.zoom and manual focus . Any suggestions ? Used the search function and found a few answer but lots to consider .

Yes lots to consider. 20x is nice i run a xha1 canon its a little older now. Takes very good, clear, footage. One negative is it uses a mini hd, which is a tape. Takes extra work to convert it to the computer for editing. Its also on the big side. Think they are only around 1000.00 used. Id look it up and find something similar to it if your looking for a semi pro class camera.

I just purchased a Canon vixia g30 during bear season and love it. I bought mine from mcbains it was on sale. Still might be. Mcbains also has a 3 year warranty that covers everything besides theft and arson. I even asked the lady I dealt with, if I drop it out of a tree while hunting or drop it in the river fishing will they cover it and she said absolutely you just got to bring it in.

Popcan would be a good guy to ask, he seems to know his cameras very well.

Thanx for the advice and yes I've talked with Popcan , he had some good tips . I'm looking at not spending quite that much coin , but I know you generally get what you pay for

There will be some really good deals shortly from Campbell, they are headed out of business and clearing out the inventory...

Best is to inquiry with them directly... There will be plenty of lease camera's on the chopping block as well...

The new rage is the 4K units, should drive prices of similar models with lessor capabilities down.

Good luck and don't forget the DSL option, again more heading this way as well.

do you have some insider information about them going out of business? They supply a lot of cameras to a lot of shows. If this is indeed the case I will be getting in line for some of the deals.

Well thought I had a camera all lined up but the deal fell thru . Popcan went above and beyond the call of duty to try and help me arrange for a used Canon HFG30 but things didnt pan out . Thanx again Trevor , I'll keep looking .
