Draw 2015
Hey Guys,
I am new to hunting and am putting in my draw for the first time this year. I have a few areas that people are going to take me for hunting. With the draw this year I am putting in for deer and moose this year (not expecting much) just to start building up. I see the priority 1,2 and 3. Can someone explain this a little more for me. And any advice if I should put in for anything else? Thank you very much.

I'm pretty sure the 1,2,3 are for the WMU you want to apply in. You have up to three you can enter. #1 being the WMU you would want to be drawn the most, #2 & #3 being your second and third choices. If you only want to be drawn in the first WMU don't enter anymore than the one. If just building priority enter 999 in the #1 choice.

That's first, second, third choice....not priority.

If you are looking at the 2014 draw summary, that is the priority of those who were successful. 100% 4, 68% 3 means that those with 4 years or greater priority were drawn, while only 2/3 of those with 3 years priority, and no one with less than 3 years priority were drawn.
What that means is that if there is no drastic change in a) the number of people applying for that draw, and b) the number of tags available, you are unlikely to draw in that zone until your fourth or fifth year applying.

If I were you I would sit down with the draw both k and put in for as many draws as you are allowed, some of those draws (Antilope) will take you as much as 8 plus years to get a tag so put in as many as you can. Just 999 them if you don't want to lose k up wmu even.
Good luck
Jim..

Get online and start reading: regs and draw booklet together. They aren't that difficult to understand but it takes some time to figure it out. Once you have it, the hardest part is deciding where to hunt! You're gonna get a lot of advise but you won't understand the terms till you've spent some time reading. Keep the regs and draw booklet in your bathroom for those leg numbing experiences. Great articles usually in the back of the regs magazine too.

I'm in my second year hunt here, I didn't enter the tag draw last year but got some under subscribed tags, this maybe an option for you.
