Why? Did he start the season playing for the Soilers? They had the worst record in Alberta at that point.

Glad we got something for Bennett, essentially the same haul as Hall. Won't miss him. He wanted out so let him go. He's a 3rd or 4th line player at best. Only reason I would have kept him is as another player for the expansion draft.

Quite possible he would've been exposed in the expansion draft so two seconds (last year and next year) beats losing him for nothing. Had his chance with Sutter and didn't really see much difference in his play.

Does go to show how far Hall's stock has dropped in the league though.

Hey, when you're playing in Edmonton, you're pretty much jealous of anybody who gets to go anywhere else.

Yeah but we probably could have convinced seattle to take Bennett which would save us some players we may want to keep that have to be exposed. I think the flames are going to protect Gio, which means they end up exposing Tanev.

I sure hope not.

Should be:

Forwards:
-Lindholm;
-Gaudreau;
-Tkachuk;
-Monahan;
-Mangiapane;
-Dube; and,
-Lucic (if he hasn't waived).

Defense:
-Andersson;
-Hanifin; and
-Tanev.

Goal:
Markstrom

Even if Lucic doesn't waive, it should really make no difference. Leivo, Ryan, Ritchie, Nordstrom, take your pick, they are all UFAs at season end. If we're really, really lucky, they'll take Backlund or Gio.

Note: Seattle doesn't have to take anyone from Calgary. And based on the last many months of performance (not considering contract situations) I wouldn't lose too many winks of sleep thinking Seattle is about to pluck talent from our mighty Flames in the coming months...unfortunately.

I personally would celebrate on the Red Mile if they took Backlund and/or Gio.

Don't they have to take one player from each of the 30 teams provided list (Vegas being exempt)?

List looks about right. Would have been hard to put Bennett on it and remove someone else who's eligible. Of course that list assumes there are no other trades/ roster moves before then.

If Hall didn’t have a NMC clause in his contract he would have returned a first round pick to the Sabres. He had to agree to the trade so pretty well limited Buffalo’s options.

Will be interesting to see how Hall pans out with Boston though.

Yes.. I picked up on the same exact thing.. Oil and water those 2. This team is headed in one or the other directions. And JGs direction hasn't worked out... Sooooooooooooo.. Say goodnight Johnny..

I love this organization.. Not a fan of this team.

Your crap team hasn’t and won’t be playing my team this season. On the other hand, the Oilers have a chance of playing them.
Even up the series? Does it matter? Flames will be yelling fore shortly.

So not an Oiler fan, but obviously a Flames hater. Nice to see the Flames have touched other fans in the feels in the past as well.

This will be the first time in a long while, the Flames have beat the Oilers to the Links.

Rittich starting in net for the Leafs tonight, flew to Toronto with the Flames. LOL May have been a fun flight.
Loo has 1000 game, so lot’s of flory lines, should hopefully be an entertaining one. As long as they bring the same energy they did the other night, when we kicked the Oilers you know what.

Never seen Lucic smile so broadly as he was during his 1000th game acknowledgment. Strange as heck yet good on him.

17 years since the shames have won a playoff series. 17 years !!!
If you had a baby the last time they won a series, he/she would be graduating in a couple months.

Flames were the first team to win a series in Rodgers Place.

In that same time span they MADE the playoffs nine times. The oilers? Uhhh three times and have had FOUR first overall draft picks

You don't have to be Einstein to figure out which team has been more successful over that time frame.
If you want to rip on a team for being inept, look 3 hours north. Bet you haven't been beaking off on that thread though have ya?

The leafs may want to seriously think about declining penalties. Wow, are they bad lately.
