Default Casting Practice

Hello fellow flyfishers!

I know people sometimes like to fish together. I wonder if people ever practice casting together. Does anyone have any thoughts about meeting in a park a couple of times a month to practice, learn from each other, discuss casting mechanics...etc?

Posting where you live might help.

That's a great idea. I always tell my clients to practice in a field, not on the water (you'll just end up fishing when on the water). With two of you, one can watch for bad habits oo the other and then coach them. Also a good idea to video them on your phone, it's always nice to see what your own casting looks like from a different perspective.

a couple of times last year at Queen Mary Park (117th st & 108 ave) saw a group of people practicing fly casting. must of been lessons as it looked like one person was leading the group and showing techniques. might want to check with some of the local fishing groups or maybe the Fishing Hole to see who is putting on the lessons.

Heck Mike, I don't want people to see my bad habits, just want to get out there and fish!
