Default Calgary Flames, 2021

Well, training camp has kicked off, the season is scheduled to start next week, and the provinces have approved the North Division.

Also have our first helmet ad sponsor, Scotia Bank. Pretty non-intrusive IMO:

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Eq56IS9U...jpg&name=large

Thought I'd throw out my line prediction. Rumor has it that Ward is going to switch things up this year.

Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tkachuk
Mangiapane - Monahan/Backlund - Leivo/Backlund/Monahan
Lucic - Bennett - Dube
Nordstrom - Ryan - Simon

Giordano - Andersson
Valimaki - Tanev
Hanifin - Kylington/Mackey/Nesterov

Markstrom
Rittich

I hope they give Leivo and Valimaki a decent shot. Mainly Valimaki, really don't want to see him playing on the 3rd pairing with Michael Stone or something.

I want to care, really I do. But I'm just not feeling it. Training camp and season starting in January has me completely indifferent. That, and the crap they pulled during the abortive playoffs, cancelling games because black olives matter. Maybe I will start to care at some point.

I can't wait, lets go already. Wasn't sure about the all Canadian division to start but will be fun I think.
Seeing different line combos for training camp today, sure makes me think some changes to start for sure.
Agree on Valimaki, give him a solid pairing and see what he can do. Man I hope he can stay healthy.
Can't wait to see Tkachuk rattle some cages, I bet he is chomping at the bit. Hasn't P****d anyone off in a long while.
Go Flames.

You're an evil man Bessie. Keep it up and I may start caring again. At least enough to win more bets with you. I was reading about young Connor today, had a good laugh.

I wasn't a fan of the cancelled games and stunts they performed last year either. My solution is to not directly give them money, no tickets, merchandise, TV, etc. I'll still watch the odd game, chirp in here when they win, be busy at work when they lose (10-0 is probably not going to happen, maybe 8-2), and participate in 58th's pool though.

Hand full of days now. I like the lines Ward is trying out. Them top 9 if they can click will have some decent depth up front.

FLames put Derek Ryan and Zac Rinaldo on waivers, the Oilers put 1/4 of their team, and lots of biggish names placed as well, including Corey Perry, Micheal Frolik, Loui Eriksson, Tyler Johnson, Luke Schenn, Andrew Ladd, Mathieu Perreault.

Killington was also put on waivers today, I think we might lose, him, and Ryan.
I sure hope not.

They have to do this to any player they want to place on the "taxi" squad.

I doubt we'll lose Ryan, I think only 7 teams can fit his salary in their cap.

Missed the first half of the period, but the boys look like they are working well together. Atta boy Johnny, I hope our special teams are better then last season. Go Flames.

They are playing with a lot of pace so far. Defence is jumping up into the play quite a bit, so far I like what I see from them. Other than the dad goal the gave up to Laine.

True, but its not even been one game yet....

For reference, Hellebuyck won the Vezna last year, he's at 0.813, Price is at 0.853, Jarry's at 0.760, Anderson's at 0.875....

Half those goals aren't his fault ether IMO.

It's unfortunate, was hoping the officials would have sharpened their skills in the off season. Doesn't appear to be the case.

Not the same jump in the second but starting to settle now. Can't let them back in though.

Need to stay out of the box. That one call was weak ugh. Hitting from behind isn't helping the cause.

Know why the Jets got a too many men? Seemed to me the change was near the bench and buddy was completely off the ice before the puck was touched.

That one was strange. Wonder if it was just how it was fluttering it tapped the glass on the way over. Not sure.

I am happy with our special teams so far. Last year they were not good. So far great kill there. Moving puck well, Tkachuck back in front of the net again. Great goal tic tac toe . Now keep it up don't stop again.
