Default removing electronics while towing

Just wondering if people leave their electronics hooked up while towing or if you remove them.

I've been removing mine but I have been wondering if it is necessary.
My boat has a windshield with a sonar/gps sitting on the dash behind the windshield. It has another sonar up front attached to a Ram mount. This mount can be positioned so that the sonar is out of the way for travel.

I have a quick disconnect on my Humminbird so I remove it, and put it in a crown royal bag and into a locked compartment when not in use. Trolling motor is also removed and put on the floor when travelling with the cover on.

I have always removed mine and stored them in cases. That is up till last year when I made a couple of trips with them installed. The only issue I could find, was the dust. I will likely continue removing them. That way don't have to worry about running in for a coffee. Mine are also on ram mounts.

I remove my HDS-7 while towing. I store it, the i-Pilot remote, Kershaw knife, and spare spools for my reels in a Plano pistol case.

While the ram mount is fairly beefy, it is the Saskatchewan highways that untimately force my decision to remove it because too much can go wrong. I've got it mounted behind the windshield. So aside from unit damage, there is potential for damage to the windshield and stress damage to the console. It is probably a bit on the over cautious side. But in the end it is only an extra minute at the launch. With the way I pack, even with the boat covered when towing I can be on the water in a bit over 5 minutes after arriving at the launch if nobody else is there.
