Default Looking for an old film projector

OK fellow AO members

A historical group I work with received a donation of 3 x 16mm films.

We are hoping to take a look at them and see what's on them before paying to convert them. The one is military from the 40's or 50's from what I can tell

Anyone out in AO Land have a projector? Preferable North Edmonton/St Albert way?

Thanks

A long shot... maybe an older pawn shop like Uncle Ed's might have an old projector or two. Also, the Antique malls would most likely have a few for a price.

I really think your best bet would to be to have them converted to DVD.
At the age they are going to be the film is going to be brittle...guarantee that if you run it though a projector to many times it will eventually break or crumble.
Once converted you can watch it however many times you like and save the original 16mm for posterity.
McBains in Edmonton and Vistek in Calgary both offer this service.

The intent is to get them comverted (assuming tbey are not just family movies)

Just want to confiem what is on them. With a glass and up to the window I can make out a tank at the start of one reel

http://fava.ca/productions/rentals/production-gear/

5 bucks a day and lots of other gear for 16 mm if you want to work on the films.

Thanks for the FAVA tip.

I did try library and historical society but no luck. Will see if the school has one as well.

Maybe try throwing it on the AO pony Express that is pinned up top in the general section here??

Generous offer that might just make it up there....

Managed to get one up here for free and sourced a bulb

Leroy hooked us up in Med Hat as well for our Museum.

The footage showed South Alberta Regiment in late/end WW2 so will take it in to be put into digital format

Thanks guys
