Tuck is stuck on pigeon lake south of mulhurst

You're really gonna have to get a good set of chains, for all 4 wheels, to put on BEFORE you go out to play on the ice. Every time. Snow on ice behaves differently than a snow-packed road.

Took us an hour to go 200 yards from our shack to the main track. Once there it was ok but we wouldn’t have made it off without the trac grabbers, shovel and sand ladders. Must have shoveled 10 times at least. Can’t wait for spring!

Have yourself a beer - been there and done that myself. Glad you made it.

As soon as she starts softening up cables are nearly useless anyways - if you cant do chains - I would revert to walking on this time of year. Only a real aggressive chain helps in conditions like these and even then, it's still a challenge in some areas.

I was out last week only about a foot of snow really crusty on top, never did get stuck but really slow going. Always take 2 shovels I hate shovelling alone.

Was out on Gull for the weekend...pulled out more vehicles than I have ever.

This warmer weather the snow is different now. You spin, you go down real quick.

Differential lockers or helical gear type limited slip carriers fix traction problems pretty good

Those certainly help a bit, but the main problem in warm snow over ice is getting something for the tires to bite with. Need chains for that.

My truck has a limited slip in the back but is open in the front. Chains would have been nice to have - I know they won't fit on the front but I'll take another look at the back, hopefully can fit something there.

Fishing was slow on Saturday, we saw a few on the camera but nothing until about 4:30. Then the bite started and continued until about 11pm. We landed about 8 walleye and a few pike, but didn't see any whites or burbot.

We caught a few Sunday morning but it was pretty slow so we packed it up around lunch time. Glad we didn't fish all day, I'd hate to have to shovel that much in the dark

And as the two to three feet of snow softens up nothing helps as it all turns mushy and you sink....sleds, quads are all in the same situation too unless you pin it for the complete run and keep momentum but sooner or later you gotta slow down...., curse, shove, curse......

Default chains

The only chains I would consider are v-bar as most others help a little but do not bite well into ice.
