Default In search of a gunsmith

Hey guys I am having great difficulty in finding somebody who would work on some lever action triggers. I called Bashaw, Warburg and Ron in Edmonton. They all tell me nothing can be done with them so I got to live with it. Savage 99, Winchester 88 and 94 and a Marlin 336 JM. Can anybody help me out?
Thanks,

You can purchase a replacement trigger for the 336, that is a huge improvement.

The problem with working on lever actions as it very slow tedious work to reduce trigger pull .
It can be done but the problem is it is a matter of changing the sear / trigger geometry with out going too far and ruin a trigger .
It's a matter of disassembly working on the surfaces reassemble and try. Over and over again until it is right . Therefore $$$$$$$$$$

Understand, makes sense. I guess I will continue doing what I do.

Labour intensive, and time consuming, for limited results, that's why most smiths say no.

It all boils down to $$.
If you want to triple or quadruple the value of the firearm, on gunsmith fees, to tune up the trigger. For no actual real world increase in the rifles worth.

It's your money.

Just don't be pizzling and moaning that after 6-8 months wait time, and a bag of cash dumped into it, it gives you marginal improvement in accuracy.

Or you could invest the funds in a rifle platform that could truly benefit from a crisp trigger.

trigger happy sear in my marlin xlr 3 pound even trigger pull no other work. very consistent my marlin would be useless without it for me anyway and my winchester is too hard to shoot with its 6 pound pull. i should not have bought the winchester and without the trigger happy i would not be shooting lever at all except for my 22 henry which is pretty good

Give Del a call and talk to him. That is exactly the kind of work he specialises in.

I love these posts that dont offer help to the guy. Hes obviously into levers and instead of directing him, your opinions pop up and discourage him. "Get a good bolt with custom trigger", not everyone likes that stuff. First and foremost with multiple levers, your not going to make him go out and buy a bunch of bolt action rifles, answer his question first! One gent did ( where none of you could help ) and he is in the right direction. Then after you help provide your advice and what you possibly think might help him, good money after bad etc. I spend some time on here and overall you are a really opinionated bunch and this chases folks away. Keep an open mind we dont want to lose members, it makes this website great.

One has to remind himself that this is the internet and everyone is an
expert.
That by definition is, a has been, and a drip under pressure.
