Default Gun Ban

Well hear it comes Libs taking away 11 different firearms tomorrow to save us from ourselves. Sure going to work when we are next door to " Largest Gun Super Store" in the world just around 300 million guns on sale!
Gun registration of grampa's rabbit gun coming next.

It will be interesting to see how many people willingly turn in their firearms, especially the non restricted ones that are not registered. And since they aren't registered, there is no way to measure compliance. Knowing the liberals, they will just declare 90+% compliance, and nobody will be able to prove them wrong.

From the CBC article

According to a document obtained by Radio-Canada, the list includes:

Ruger Mini-14s, the type of firearm used in the École Polytechnique shooting. There are an estimated 16,859 in Canada.

Swiss Arms Classic Green carbines. There are an estimated 1,342 in Canada.

M14 rifles, used in the Moncton shooting. There are an estimated 5,229 in Canada.

Vz. 58 semi-automatic rifles, used in the Quebec City mosque shooting. There are an estimated 11,593 in Canada.

CZ Scorpion EVO 3 carbines. There are an estimated 1,813 in Canada.
Beretta CX4 Storm carbines, the type of firearm used in the Dawson College shooting. There are an estimated 1,513 in Canada.

Sig Sauer MCX and Sig MPX carbines and pistols. There are an estimated 1,000 in Canada.

Robinson Arms XCR rifles. There are an estimated 1,834 in Canada.

The list also includes two categories of firearms the government hopes to ban:

Firearms with a calibre (gun barrel diameter) of more than 20 mm. For example, a grenade launcher.

Firearms capable of producing muzzle energy of more than 10,000 joules.

Anybody have something like a 460 wmg or bigger that you've hunted with? Looks like the 7300 ft-lb limit is clear of most but not all hunting calibers.

They start the list with M16 & M4 to scare the uninformed and gained their approval, dirty play...

A 600 Nitro Express will be just over the 10000 Joules. Anything smaller than that should be o.k.

Yes, and they mention how they were used in 4 mass shootings, all in the USA, because they can't show an instance where it was done in Canada. So totally relevant.

Non Compliance. Complete, total, absolute non compliance by all licensed gun owners. That's the answer.

I had a young friend texting me this morning about it, he serves in the PPCLI 1st Mech Brigade. He told me everybody in his squad has at least one of the named firearms. They aren't going to confiscate them from each other...

They and the RCMP are too undermanned, and too unmotivated to enforce a ban. So what is JT and his idiot circus going to do? Ask 'pretty please'? Call in the UN to help enforce it? Hilarious.

How much energy does a 338 lapua and 50bmg produce. Target shooters are on the chopping block this go around. Your rifle may be on the block next time.

There are an estimated one of those in Canada. Instead of a buy back, the owner is requesting a 400 series WMU in exchange.

With land owner tags for anything that walks or crawls on that too, I would hope.

Buying back YOUR guns with YOUR money...

Sounds like a Trudeau Liberal move

I hope to turn the TV on someday very soon just in time to see some good news involving Trudeau

That's why I watch him. But I mute it, because I can't stand listening to the lispy bastard lecture all the deplorables.

Hoping to see history made though.

We were chattin' it up pretty good and he kept silencing calls.
He showed me some 12.x Prohib license, and he bought all my guns.

So you do know that on the Mohawk Indian Reserve the Quebec Provincial Police are aware of prohibited firearms, but are not willing to go onto the Reserve to enforce the Firearms laws?

Yes, this was the reason that the Mohawk railway blockage was not removed by the QPP in the recent Eco Terrorist shut down of Railway service in Quebec and Ontario!!!

Yes, that is why the Court (a law of Canada thing I am told) ordered Injunction was not enforced by the Mohawk Peace Keepers (On Reserve Police) and the QPP refused to move in to enforce that law of Canada thing called a COURT INJUNCTION!

But for the rest of us Canadians, the Government has their sights set on you.

By my math and using figures in the latest Hornady reloading handbook, the 460 Weatherby Mag is over 10,000 Joules. So, is the 416 Barrett, and of course the 50 BMG, but I think that's about it from calibres listed there. Unless of course, the legislation is worded "capable of..." in which case ridiculously unsafe handloads could make a number of other magnums prohibited by being "capable of" 10,000 Joules. We'll have to wait and see, as the devil will be in the details. But if these media reports are right we can definitely expect some bolt-action guns to be prohibited.

And who was the asshat that came up with this magic number of 10,000 joules??
Holy Toledo it's not like a firearm that can produce that type of energy is what a murderer is going to choose!
Not to mention the uncanny coincidence of all the other crap they have thrown out there on behalf of the antis.....

Default 10,000 joules = 7375 foot pounds for bullet energy

Joules can be converted to foot pounds for bullet energy.
Every cartridge has a rating for bullet energy potential.

Some examples,

Borderline,
500 Jeffery 7071 ft/lbs
577 Nitro Express 7065 ft/lbs

Past 7375 ft/lbs, NE is Nitro Express,
600 NE (900 RN) 7596 ft/lbs
700 NE (1000 RN) 8015 ft/lbs
460 Weatherby 7000 to 9999 ft/lbs
50BMG 10,000 to 14,999 ft/lb

Correct
The next episode of criminal activity involving a firearm will result in a lowering of the "joules".

Wow I’m surprised they aren’t talking every .22lr that’s ever existed, I would think that this has been the most used caliber/firearm used in crime
