Default Line cabin

Spent last couple days out on the line, Cleaned up the cabin and finished up the floor. Sure nice to get up in the morning and put your feet on a floor instead of dirt. Put up a bunch of marten boxes and cleaned up some trail. Started snowing on friday and all day sat, argo's pushed snow, but did't make it out, stayed over night on the trail and had a couple guys come in on snowmobiles bringing my Argo tracks. Sure glad we were prepared to camp on the trail. 3 hr trip turned into 28hr trip, with 18''+ of snow....

Default Argo tracks

It's a huge diff, we were stuck not chance to go further, once the tracks were on i could tow out the other one on tires. Slow going but sure traction. Get the biggest engine avaliable, the tracks use alotta power.

If any of you are close to calgary area (within 3 hours or so) and need a helper on your trapline let me know. I would love to spend some time in the bush.

Yeah I've seen that one it's just off the main snowmobile trail. There is another one more towards the river about a km away, newly built last year or the year before.

Now that's a nice one and something I'd like to build sometime if I could find a nice quiet spot that I could afford to buy

We bought a half section in the MD of Greenview, south and west of Valleyview. Spent a couple of years building this. Built an outdoor shower and am working on a wood fired sauna attached to a skinning shed now. The sauna will have a shower for winter use.

Mud, it's built on pipe piles so the many windows are up fairly high from the ground, it's pine sided inside, cedar outside, a couple of 40' beetle killed pine in the ceiling that stick out over the deck, one bedroom, nothing fancy really, off the grid. Still researching solar, I bought a 50' tower but the big bush doesn't allow much wind generation around the cabin so may not put it up.
We put a small garden in to hopefully have fresh veggies during hunting season, our first try at that, we may have to fence it next year.

Sounds like a really nice place to go and just enjoy everything around you and to get away from it all.
Have you thought about solar for charging batteries? They have come a long ways and will charge even with limited sun exposure time, especially if your not using the batteries on a full time basis. They'll just recharge back up when your not there

I don't have pics, but a distant relative on my wife's side has an amazing set up on his trap line in BC. I really don't have the time and money for one, but I tell myself if I were to tragically lose my family, I would soothe my soul on a trap line.
Thanks for sharing all the pics.
