Default quads

Hey guys, my buddy has a quad that he might be selling soon, its a2002 articat 500 4x4 automatic ,

its a nice quading but iam worried about the automatic thing if iam pulling out a moose or elk, with things slipping or burning a belt? I am kind thinking a standard would be better?

I had a kodiak with the Ultramatic and the only time i even had problems with belt slipping is when i was in water that was up to seat, other than that never an issue

Hey Cochranite,
I have had that same quad for about 5 yrs, great machine. Only thing I would recommend is getting rid of the battery if it is stock. I have pulled approx 10 moose over the years for myself and other members of our hunting camp and this is with stock tires and various weather conditions.

THe only time you will get slippage is if the belt gets wet nad most belts are encased and it takesa lot of high wate to get to them. I've never had a slip on my Polaris 500 yet while plowing or dragging anything from animals to trees.

The blue book price (dealer wholesale) on that ATV is $3400 in average condition $4,000 clean and $2700 rough.
