Default ATC for Trap line

Guys working on my ATC for trapline. I have completed the documents, looking in to skill testing. Anyone got tips and suggestions beside lots of shooting practise. Also suggestions for individuals/ranges qualified to do testing in Edmonton area.

Passed and now qualified. Pistol must be in a locked box with trigger lock when traveling in truck, riding on quad or snowmobile. Only time I can carry it in a holster is when walking to traps. Holster must be around waist and totally visible. No shoulder holsters. Very limited.

We decided to not get atc on our line, to much trouble

We use rossi or henry ranch hands in 357 or 44 mag
Also know as mares legs,
non restricted and very short, no ATC to carry needed, lots of leg and back holsters around for them

For dispatch gun I pack a chiappa little badger in 22, folds in half, non restricted , weights like 2 pounds

Steve McQueen used a mares leg back in the day

Little badger

Default Atc

TrapperMike, was the restriction to carry for dispatch 22 handgun or for a 357 magnum for protection. It would never make any sense if a handgun was locked up other than dispatch. I can agree with transport to line in locked case. Why would they recommend a type 1 holster for carry.

Default Atc

Just another point I cannot imagine checking 50 traps in a day and unlocking cased handgun each time, going beyond silly! Nube how did you make out on your ATC you were working on a while back, any restrictions?

They still can't seem to issue me a RPAL let alone to the next step.....
They sure like to take their time. They made the phone calls necessary after I gave them crap for taking so long within a couple days. (Over a month it was in their hands) Now I sit and wait and it has been well over 2 months now. They sure didn't hesitate to charge the credit card after the first week they had it.
If I have to have it locked while on my skidoo while on my line I will say forget it and find another way to pack a gun around. That sounds rediculous you can't holster a pistol and go for a skidoo ride. Traveling in a vehicle I understand
