Default coyote hides

I am planing to practice tanning hides. Coyote hide would be the best to start with. not too small not too large...don't have the time to hunt one by myself so it would be wonderful if someone could give me one or two.... Thank you in advance!

How about a deer hide?
They aren't worth anything, so you might have better chance of getting one of those for nothing.
You can have mine, if you want it.
It will give you good practice at stitching holes...
(Or cut out a coyote sized piece from a less holey part)

You need a location. I learned how to put up coyotes on ones with shoulder mites that were going to be thrown out.

I’m a Trapper up in Morinville and I toss coyotes with shoulder mites. You are welcome to them when I catch them. Other than between the shoulders the fur is good on the sides, etc.

Coyote and fox are a good choice to start with due to their relatively thin skin.
Even wolf does not require much thinning.
Make sure to thoroughly thin the head and the lower parts of the legs after the pickle.
Those thin skins will be easy to break as they dry .

Default coyote

These days with good coyote pelts fetching upto $150 each, not to many trappers willing to give them away. Canada goose likes to use them on their $1000 plus parkas.
