Default WIN Card

2 part question
1) How old do you have to be to get your WIN card?
2) If I was to bring my 5 year old son fishing to Newell, is he able to catch and keep one under my tags.

Default Win card

i believe under 12yrs they don't need a license and as a resident they fish under their own limit.

I got my kids WIN cards and they range in age from 7 to 12. As long as you have all their pertinent information. You'll need some form of ID for them, we used the kids' Alberta Healthcare numbers.

3 out of the 4 got walleye draws, they're extremely excited about the possibility of being able to keep their own fish

WIN Card
To provide better service to both resource users and licence issuers, anglers and hunters must purchase a Wildlife Identification Number (WIN) card for $8.00 before purchasing any licence, wildlife certificate or hunting draw application under the new system. The card is valid for five years. It is used like a credit card with a magnetic strip that is read by the point-of-sale machine, allowing the machine to confirm within seconds your eligibility for a licence.

Anyone of any age is able to get the card , If your wanting to apply for the walleye draw , ou just have to provide a passport or alberta health care card number , but they do not need a license until the age of 16.

I hope this helps..
