Question Painting a Boat
Does anyone know what kind of paint / primer to use on an aluminium boat?

Go buy some etch primer. Makes sure that you clean the surface well and clean any joints well.
Wipe down the whole painting surface with varsol or paint thinner.

Wait to dry then apply the etch primer.
