Question Hanmore Lake

Any one been fishing out at Hanmore Lake near Smokey Lake? How is the lake?

I went out there last sunday in a boat between 3 of us we caught 4 Northern Pike all of them were skinny one of the pike we caught was 25 inches long and weighed 1 pound 6 ounces

The pike have been like that for the last 3 or 4 years.I think the whitefish are also non-existant.

Thats funny too because the Barry Mitchells alberta guide says that the pike in hanmore reach 30 lbs and yet when you look at wabamun it says they only get to 20!?

its a very basic guide and a lot can change from year to year.

Hanmore is Dead compared to years past. But a great little lake for skiing and tubing !!!!

Ya, its too bad as that is where the prov record white came from. I think Pigeon is gonna set the next record for whites tho if they would only stop netting it.

The netting doesnt even put a dent in the population of whites that are in pigeon lake. It would be good if smaller mesh size nets were used to thin out the walleye though. I say the next record white will be out of smoke lake.
