Default Calling Lake Access

Heading up Saturday.

Wondering if there is still access at the provincial park for a truck. I'm very limited in mobility so quad or sled for me is not an option.

I have only fished this lake once last year in the summer so going to fish in front of the provincial park. If anyone has been out lately, wondering how the walleye and burbot bite have been?

Thanks again and everyone stay safe

Tony

Was there last week, you can drive on at the first launch. Just follow the trail to get across the heave, lots of ice.

Walleye bite is early, we went deep looking for perch after the walleye stopped but couldn't find any. We didn't stay late, the walleye would probably start again later in the afternoon.

Default Awesome!

We are heading up from Edmonton. Plan is to be at lake at first light. Maybe look for the anchor I lost this summer with the aqua view.

Lol!

Thanks again

When you say early, can you be a little more specific?

Default Depth

How deep should we be fishing. When I was there in June we were catching in front on PP in about 10 ft. Should we be going out further?

Thanks

Nothing wrong with asking for advice and no one is forced to give information either

Simple don't post information if you don’t want to share

Default Haha!

Glad I was able to provide entertainment!

I’m thankful for the advice and I’m just happy to be going out today. I’m on bonus days since June 1, 2018. According to ER doc I should have died that day.

Happy Saturday all! Hope to have a few fillets for the deep fryer!

Default Beautiful Day

We had a great day but nothing on the ice.

We went from 10 to 25 feet. Seen nothing on the camera either. Lots of ice and no issues getting around.

slowest day on calling for me this year. I lost one but managed to catch one nice 52 cm eye. fished 6 hrs in front of the launch. This jack was just sitting there from 8:30 to 9:30 and not moving , under the hole. I even slid a minnow off him and nothing.

I got skunked too. Cold up there Saturday!
Saw quite a few and especially whites. Haven't figured those whites out yet. Did some traveling around. Found a ridge where the truck tracks that went over it did not touch the ground for 10 feet....
Had to follow this through. Found the group fishing and talked to the guy. He said he only going 30 km. I have to think about the physics on that one...maybe faster. Should have taken a pic of it. It was crazy!
He lost his spoiler and certainly jumbled the gear. On the way back we found a fuse box cover....wonder if that was his.
But, he had fish on the ice. So we chatted for a while and setup in the area. Lots of fish. Hooked and lost 2, just not my day.

Default Winter Walleye

I have never done well Ice fishing walleye.

Based on what happened yesterday seeing no fish in the exact area where we ran out of 2 tubs of minnows.

The structure was great and no fish. I don’t know the lake but I have always had luck at my parents lake ice fishing the same spots of have done well in the summer.

Do walleye in calling winter in different areas or is that what walleye do at other lakes?

Tony
