Deer Rifle
All that is left to do on this one is to take the shine off the barrel. Some old parts, some new. Stiller Predator action / Holland recoil lug / Jewell trigger / KSA light weight bottom metal / HS precision detachable magazine /
24 1/2” Kreiger 1:8 twist barrel turned down to 0.58” MD chambered to 6.5 X 47L / Wildcat stock / Leupold VX 11 4 - 12 X 40 AO scope. Rig as pictured comes in just a tickle under 7.5 lbs.
Picture inbound.

It shot pretty decent when the barrel was heavier so I expect it will be a half MOA shooter. It did a bit better than that on the last warm day but maybe the wind was just friendly. I just picked up & installed the KSA bottom metal/magazine to get rid of the hinged floorplate.

Thanks. I got a bit of cleaning up to do...re-bed the bottom metal to hide my heavy handed dremel work...and pull the barrel to paint or get it bead blasted.
Then on to my Elk Rifle build, using a blend of new and old parts.

Nice deer rifle 260,I was a 270 win fan for years and have bin shooting the 6.5 for about 7 years now in one form or another. The 129 gr nosler LRAB sure works nice on anything I have shot. What are you planning using in it.
Good Luck

Very nice. Lots of similarities to my 6.5X47. Mine comes in a bit heavier right at 8 lbs with a Z5 5-25x52. What bullet are you shooting? I shoot the 130 Accubond out of this one and my practice X47 I shoot the 130 Berger hunting. Both bullets are great on deer.

I have several barrels chambered to 6.5 X 47L. Two for this Stiller Predator action (one 24.5 “ and one 25” barrel). I usually load 130 Berger VLD(H) or 135 CL/Htr but may give the LRAB a try. The 130’s seem to like leaving the muzzle about 2850fps and my experience is that they come apart in the boiler room even after the have shed a bit of velocity at 200M. Don’t think I would use them for heavier game but I have no doubt they would kill efficiently.
I am going to put together a 308 Win on the BAT action for when I get an Elk draw.

Looks great. If the bolt was on the other side I would ask if it was for sale.

The stock was finished/bedded by Stuart at Wildcat...originally with a Rem 700 box mag/hinged floorplate. I did a bit of tinkering to fit the KSA bottom metal so had to redo the bottom end bedding.

Wow
I don’t often comment on these sort of things but that’s about as perfect as it gets. A deer should be so lucky to meet their end that way. If you shoot a rifle half as good as you put one together... sheesh.

Stopped by KSA today to pick up another light weight bottom metal and order a 30 cal barrel for the 308 build. I have decided to go with the detach magazine on both hunting rifles. Surprisingly, the KSA bottom metal with the Gen 2 magazine adds only about an ounce over the standard Rem 700 box magazine with the hanged floor plate.

You might want to check out some of the threads which 260 has started. You will quickly see that off a bench, at 100-300 yards, no one else posts the groups he does. He is one of the guys that you need to perk your ears up when he talks. And, he's a real fine fellow to boot.

9305 - 60 Ave. Just south of Argyle. Maybe call first. I know they were low on SA bottom metal today. The bottom metal is their design but takes HS Precision Gen 2 magazines.
I also have a set of HS Precision bottom metal and can tell you that the KSA design has a much better release and is half the weight.

Thanks, may have to look for something else. HS mags max length a little short for PRC.
