Default The right gun for a Zombie Apocalypse

OK ...... stupid water cooler talk at work ..... but entertaining .....

You have one gun to carry with you during a zombie apocalypse .... which is it ...... all sorts of opinions and reasons

My offer to this silly conversation was a simple AR of some type - a nice light recoil, relatively accurate 223 round, light ammo, quick recovery between shots and not a pig to lug around with you ....

what's your choice and why?

Ruger 10/22. You can carry a ton of ammo, works just dandy for Zombies, zero recoil, you can quiet it down if you need to as well. Smaller is better.

You can always carry a S&W 629 if you need a little more emergency stopping power. But a little 40 grain pill rattling around in a zombie head is all you need.

This.... hit any farm house or small town hardware/gun store and walk out with a couple thousand rounds.

Figure between one of those and a short barrelled pump shotgun you should be set. Good for small game, shotty would be good in buildings and ammo for both is plentiful.

I'd like this one. Sig Rattler. Light, compact, suppressor.

This is how it was explained to me by a friend who always seems to have the right answer. All you need is one accurate long range gun and a shotgun, then you shoot whoever you want and take their stuff.

All I need is my remote control, change the channel, and no more zombies.

Are we allowed different uppers? Its still one serial # so I'm gonna assume that its allowed. And if its not who's going to argue the point anyways? Its an apocalypse and rules are out the window!

That Zombie Max sure was a shelf-warmer at many stores after the initial novelty wore off. There was still lots at Wholesale Sports close out sale in late 2017. Nothing wrong with the stuff, its just that the packaging wasn't everyone's cup of tea.

It’s a post apocalypse world, I wouldn’t worry about cost. As mentioned already most rules are out the window. My choice would be an AR in 556, 16” 1:7 barrel with an Acog and a surplus of 30 round mags and bandoleers. 223 is plentyfull has enough knock down on the brain munchers, is capable out to 500 yards, can take a deer or antelope if you need food and is very plentiful. After that I would choose a .45 pistol most likely my P220. Not the highest capacity but a .45 to a rotting skull will finish them off. Oh and of course the rifle would be suppressed.

Ruger 10/22

The ability to carry 500 rounds for the same weight and volume as 60 centerfire rounds is the decision for me as much as I'd love to use my AR.

Definitely keep it simple, low maintenance, easy to clean and reliable firearms. 870 and probably 10/22 or bolt action 22, maybe SKS as well.

22lr handgun like a Browning Buckmark or Ruger MK5 with a little red dot, iron sight for backup, and multiple mags. Shotgun, a 22lr rifle, and some big or medium sized rifle would be another big plus.

M1a / m14 ....adjustable scope with QD rings .....close /mid/long range it's got all the above

In the event of the ZA you'd also be fighting regular folk , who have Xd the line / lost there mind or are starving .... so good luck with a 22 to scare them.

223 /ar 15 prolly ideal

But m14 /308 has twice the oompf, in a defence situation against other shooters ..... heavy though

All the same reasons listed i would have an Ar-15 with a 9mm upper and carry a 9mm sidearm be nice to have just a little more hit than a 22lr because if youve watched any apocalyptic movie its not always the zombies you have to worry about lol

Mlr 1722 (1022) 4lb rifle, light ammo, Bella Twins world record grizzly was shot with a single shot cooey ace .22, so the 22 should be more than adequate.
If it’s an apocalypse lean and mean will be the order of the day imo........
