That vid is kinda sad, to say the least. Seems to me we were at about 400ft when I hooked the ratfish, herring pattern fly with an 8oz weight, off a mooching rod. I just let it go to the bottom to see what happened, wasn't expecting one of those. Had a lot of fun bottom fishing up there.
Had one day when I had a herring hanging, on the rod, over the side, just out of the water, school of black bass started smacking into the side of the boat head first to get at the herring. They wouldn't jump 2 " out of the water to get the tail, just banzai at the boat to get at it,smack!!! twas nuts to watch, went on for a good 5 min.
