Default Scope problem

Need some ideas on how to get a scope off of a rifle. Screws seem to be frozen in and I am afraid to strip them. No idea why they are not coming off.
Suggestions would be welcome
Thanks
Roger

Try warming it up with a blow dryer or a soldering iron right on the screws .
It could be that a stronger than needed locking fluid was used on the screws and heat will break it loose.
A drop of Kroil and left to soak never hurts either .

Someone may have used loctite on the ring screws, when all else fails, I have wrapped a wet cloth around the scope, and used a small butane torch to warm up the screws. Worst case scenario, someone brought me a rifle with the screw heads stripped, and I had to drill the heads off of the screws, and then use vice grips to grab the screw stubs to turn them out.

Make sure you are using the correct tool as well; whether screwdriver or torx you want a tight fit not simply something close....If it jumps out, this may become the beginning of a bigger problem.

Another thing that has worked for me is in conjunction with heating it up like Cat and Elk11 stated; is to put the screwdriver in the slot (make sure the gun is solid and in a firm rest) take a hammer an tap the end of the screwdriver and this can also loosen the threads....

You may only have a couple of tries so be careful and patient.

Good luck

Taping wit a small hamer often works or the tip of a solder iron on the screw end( not the head if you can manage it) and a properly fitted driver.

Try an impact driver, if you're feeling froggy...
