I looked and I can't find specs for the beaver boards and how to draw the lines for them. How do I draw proper lines on my boards to get the right shape?
I found an old fella that used to trap in my town and he had a pattern in his garage so I borrowed it. I had the same issue as you. You could also purchase a board from halfords roughly 30$ and copy the pattern. The old guy said that he liked making a second ring in between the normal pattern. As to have a ring and not over or under stretch them.
You can buy the pattern but I can't remember where I saw it. It was either in the Halford's catalogue or at the ATA. Surely someone on AO would have a board that they'd let you trace a pattern from.

Thanks guys. PCP offered to send me a pattern in the mail. I really appreciate him offering that help. I have some beaver in the freezer from fall still and I plan on catching a few this spring as well and might a well try to do it right. I was just eyeballing it and I imagine that just wouldn't be the best way to get as good $$ as I could lol

Hey Nube. When you get your pattern, they are quarter pieces. It makes it a lot easier to make your own half piece templates(its a lot easier to work with on the boards). The best boards to use are 3/4" plywood, cut into 3 equal pieces 32"X48" each, allowing you to make 3 beaver boards out of one sheet of plywood. Using a 3/4" plywood allows you to make a pattern on both sides of the board(doubling productivity when you have a lot of beavers to board).To begin making the boards, make a cross on each board(at the 16" center and the 24" center as shown in the first picture). It is best to start with the biggest pattern and work your way down, that way you can make sure that the ovals look equal comparing to the ones that you just did. I just use sharpie markers and alternate red and black. It makes it a lot easier when you are boarding beavers.
