Default An old post resurrected - Targets, print your own

I was searching through some various websites looking for different kinds of targets for longer range shooting, especially for sighting in, and stumbled across a site I thought was pretty decent. You can choose the size of the target you want to print (depending on your printer's capabilities), what colours to make the bull and rings, whether or not to insert a grid, even what spacing you want for grid and/or rings, and whether to number them.

I get a little tired of shelling out multiple $$$ for small packages of 4 or 5 targets the same size or smaller, and my shooting buddy has a 11" X 17" ledger-paper-sized printer, so I did up my own in that size. And for sighting in, I wanted something slightly larger than the small 8.5 X 11 at longer ranges, with grid lines to make it easy to dial in the scope. Colour printer would be a bonus.

Just posting for anybody who may be interested.

http://printtargets.net/

Just set up the parameters you want (paper size, bull size, rings or not, colours, grid, etc.), hit "build your target", then "download the .pdf", save the .pdf and print - with the proper size paper in your tray.

Worked for me, and came out great.

O.N.G.

I made up a jig to draw a horizontal and vertical line on a recipe card with a ball point pen or marker. Use these at 1&200 yrds. Nice and compact. restock recipe cards from a dollar store. Started doing this when I was practicing off hand at 100 meters with my CZ Style 22 for Silhouette shooting. Some day I will get ten/ten shots in that little card if I don't get any older.

A green bingo dabber on plain white paper works great, easy to spot your impacts. I find targets with black bars make it too difficult to see your hits when sighting in. Pretty boring I know but it works and I always keep a bingo dabber in my truck and shooting bag.

Default A couple sight-in targets I made... Feel free to copy & save.

My printer spits these out with almost exactly 1" squares.

A few more variations and a log. Make sure when you print PDF's you choose actual size rather than fit. This way the sizing should stay constant.

This is an example of the target style I prefer for short range (100M). They are cheap because the “target” can be used dozens of times, and the “group” information provides an easy to keep “record”.
The “panel” contains the following info:
Top line left: bullet description with seating depth / powder
Top line right: cartridge / action / barrel
Bottom line: charge weight
The target panel is removed each time and “bundled” for future reference.
