Couple new regulation questions
1.West slopes cutthroat trout are a zero possession limit. Do we have any other types of cutthroat in Alberta that you can keep?
2. Are felt soled boots prohibited? It just says avoid the use of them to prevent transplanting whirling disease

As I had been educated earlier this year ALL Cutts are Westslope Cutts in Alberta. And yes you can wear felts - just make sure you clean them from water to water. I'm not going out there without felts on in some places.

Depends on where you fish
Quote:
Crowsnest River (the river between Lundbreck Falls & Hwy 3)
Cutthroat Trout
(any over 30cm must be released, only 1 may be longer that 45cm) - restrictions combined with Brown Trout & Rainbow Trout

On Cutties.. Not all Cutties in Alberta are West Slopes.
In Banff National Park some lakes have Yellowstone Cuts.
Some lakes have both and a mix of the two.
Outside the Park in what in Alberta the fish are considered West Slopes although the degree of purity may vary in some fllowing waters however the stocked Cutties are from Job lake and testing has confirmed that they are pretty much pure.
There are some of lakes where you can keep a fish or two for consumption.

Where are the Yellowstone Cuts? I've never heard this before and thought they only existed down south. Are these mystery lakes, since a brief Google search isn't turning up much of anything.

1) Westslope cutthroat trout are not strictly catch and release, they are threatened and some water bodies have special regs but there are many lakes and rivers that you can keep cutties from.
2) Only in national parks as of this year. Try to keep them clean between water bodies though.

Minor point but you can keep Cutties from Jasper National Park.
They are found in a couple bodies of water.

I quickly scanned the Provincial regulations as well and could not find any info on felts in the National Parks. Does that info come to you when you buy a National license?
Actually this was talked about in another thread as well and questioned.
Someone just answered this in another thread - insert to come.

National Park regulations are not found in Provincial regulations.
Here's the pertinent information found in the National Park regulations that I received from the Banff Information Centre upon purchasing my NP fishing license last week. The first 2 photos are from the 'regs', and the second two or from the paper insert:

As I've posted in the other thread on this subject:
Thank you for thanking me! Oft-times people on this forum go through considerable effort to pass information along for others to use, without so much as a 'Thanks'. In this case, it meant getting out the camera, photographing the regs, downloading them onto my computer, then uploading them to my Flickr account, and then posting them on this forum.
This, not to 'prove a point', 'win an argument' or in any way benefit me.
Knowing that others appreciate these efforts will ensure that many of us may continue to take the time to post accurate information for others to make use of.

No worries - I seen it was an effort to do so, and it was to educate instead of humiliate of which I appreciate.
