Default Remington corelokt?

Saw them in cabelas flyer on sale and I know my Canadian tire will price match (I don't live close to cabelas), any way I've read lots of bad things about all new Remington products. From what I've seen I believe them.

Does anyone use this ammo?

It would be for .308 so if it's not worth buying I would just get some cheapo fmj.

I normally shoot Winchester or federal and the gun is just a savage 111.

Thanks for the help,

from the other stuff Ive read about rem this may be a bad memory for some people.

It will work just fine...pretty decent hunting ammo for the price.

On several ocaisions I have put a 150 grain coreloct from my .270 through both shoulders of a moose. Once shot a deer at a steep quartering angle with a 130 grain, the bullet was in bad shape and did not exit but it broke 3 ribs going in and two on the other side before stopping under the hide with somthing like 24" of total penetration. I concider this to be ideal performance from a deer bullet, just tough enough to get the job done in a worst case scenario.

The advent of the fast magnums made premium bullets popular. In standard chamberings with moderate velocitys a mechanicly locked bullet will hold togeather and penetrate well. They will work just fine from your .308, in appropriate weights for any game in alberta.

Hey, if they shoot they shoot.

I take it from the FMJ comment that these probably will not see flesh, who knows maybe you'll find they shoot great...

Some people refer to the ammunition as "Core Lost"

BINGO!

Unless maybe a gopher or two next year, I'm sure they won't mind.

Thanks for the comments so far as well.

Iv been shooting corlocts for about 10yrs now, Have yet to have any issues with them. They have killed every deer dead with one shot. Usually drops em in there tracks. Im gonna be using the 160's for my elk this year. But I think this will be my last season for factory ammo, as I think im gonna get a reloading kit for my B-day

its the only ammo i have ever used in both of my 30-06 and the only time it didnt kill what i was aiming at was when i missed. i dont find any more dirt or carbon built up in my rifle than my dad does in his .243 and he shoots premium.

i have alwasy tried to shoot the cheapest ammo that i can get to group, and corlock seems to do pretty good.

Have been shooting Corelokt in my 7mmRM since I bought the gun 4 years ago. Groups decent, and kills everything I've shot with it.
Last year I bought some other stuff to try when I went out target shooting once, couldn't get the the new brands to group as good as the corelokt, so i went right back to it. Don't fix what aint broken I guess.
My Browning 7mm loves the stuff.

I use them.....no issues so far! AND, just so you know, they are not on sale at Cabela's. Sadly, I was there again this past weekend. The flyer reads "STARTING AT"$15.99......not "ON SALE FOR," which equates to reg. price. I believe that add was refering more so to the mail-in-rebate that is being offered.

Before I started reloading it was the only factory ammo I would shoot. Performed very well, bot in terms of accuracy and dependability for killing animals. I would definitely recommend it.

My only beef with them was that for some reason for the .270 they only load round nose 150 grain bullets. Have never been able to find Coreloct PSP 150's, it dont make a whole lot of sense to me, thats the only reason I switched to Fusion amo in my .270

Got alot of friends who thats all they used. I shot my deer last year with one and bullet destroyed both lungs and whatever else got in its way before stopping just under the skin on the far side. Still got the bullet above my sink. I wouldn't buy into all the hype about "premium" ammo for animals like deer/elk/black bear out of non magnum rifles.

FWIW I emailed a couple of the companies and its the equivalent of Federal blue box and Hornady interlocs ect...

Interlocks yes, the construction and performance is similar. Construction and Performance is a noticable step up from bullets like Federal Powershock and Winchester Powerpoint. The coreloct's terminal performance is better than the Balistic Silvertip or SST as well.
