Victory's First Bear
If you have been checking out the Archery Section in AO in the past week you will have read the story of 16 yr old Alyssa, my neighbour getting her first bear with a bow. Not to be out done her younger sister Victory had also ask me to take her out on her first Bear hunt. Last nite, with all our baits hit and a beautiful nite to be sitting I took Victory and her Dad to a new bait I had put up this spring with both girl's help. We settled in and were enjoying the antics of the squirrels when around 8:45 Victory was first to spot a nice bear approaching from behind the bait.
I set up for bowshots so an 18 yd shot was going to be a slam dunk for her and her 7mm-08. We let the bear settle in to a feast of greased oats and in fact watched it for almost 8 minutes which gave her plenty of time to calm down and watch bear behaviour. Finally the time came and she made an excellent shot with her first bear down for keeps in sight and less than 35 yds from the bait.
So both young ladies succeeded in taking great bears on their first hunts. Their poor Dad, Chad will be even poorer when he gets the bill for two bear rugs Lol. These girls are hooked on hunting!
Once again Neil from L.O.S.T. Archery is helping me post the pics and will add them in a bit. Congrat's girl's and thanks Neil for attaching photo's.

Good stuff! It is always great to see girls getting into hunting. I have been trying to get my wife into it but no luck so far. She is a lot more open to it now but I wish I would have taken her hunting when we started dating at 17.
Keep it up!

Congrats to both young ladies. I think it's great that you took the time to mentor both of these young hunters Gord. I remember how close they came last year, so I'm glad they both connected this year!

Great job on getting them out.
Please don't take this as a criticism but just a friendly reminder to never point a gun towards either yourself or anyone else. That includes taking pics.
First rule of gun safety is never point a gun at anything you don't intent to shoot. ( especially with the bolt closed).
Again great job getting new hunters in the field.
