Default laker tips

Well got a buddy that's just got to give Swan Lake out west of Caroline a try. I've never ice fished lakers and never fished this lake. Everything I've heard about it is that it has a 20+ hr per fish average so it's not real encouraging. Got any tips you would share? BTW there is a bait ban here as well.

Thanks

20hrs between fish? Here's the best advise I can think of. Save yourself some time and go to cold lake. 4 hours there, 4 hours back, and the fishing there gets hot sometimes.

Drill lots of holes and use a flasher or other electronics, then run and gun till you find then. Look for fish that are up off the bottom they will be the active feeders and more likely to bite. Try Jigging Spoons, Buzz-Bombs, or Tube Jigs. Good luck
Edit look on a chart of the lake and fish the deepest water close to a drop off.

Hey Kurt thats kinda how I feel about it but the buddy wants to give it a try.

Mud thanks for the tips. I'm gonna see if I can find a chart for the lake. What size of Buzz baits or jigs?

Peirre it clear you've been there but I don't see any tips on that sign. I realize we only got a couple weeks before it closes. Any more a guy would be nuts to fish any new water without reading the regs.
