Default Powder senitivity

May be this is a stupid question . I have only been loading for about a year now . Reading about the powder sensitivity stuff has me wondering on how well will the powder I have found the work best for me will perform in our Alberta weather. I really like R19,IMR 4831,H380 . I also use match primers with they help with the temp issue thing ?

There are lots of articles on the temp sensitivity of powders and pretty much the Hodgdon Extreme line are said to be the best, speaking from experience my long range rifle would shoot 1/4 moa at 20c but at -5c it was 1 1/2 moa using reloader 22, switched to mostly h1000 and h4831 in all my reloading now

I would look for some H4831. The hodgdon extreme extruded are desighned to be insensitive to temperature. IMR 4831 is not.

My Nosler books don't show me any load for H4831 for some of my calibers that I am loading for or the bullet weight I use.

Try the Hodgdon web site. They may have what you are looking for

I would give Hodgdon a try if hunting in a different temperature conditions.
Followed by iMR powders .
I like their Endurons a lot and 4451 is not any worse then a Hodgdon temperature wise or could be even better.
And as much as I like Allient powders for their speed, they are way more sensitive to the temperature drops then those two mentioned above.
Its just only my opinion of course.

That often means that a certain powder is not an good choice for that cartridge/bullet weight.

I am by no means a " pro reloader" but do all my own .I too have heard of temp swings effecting accuracy , but I load H380 in my 22-250 and have shot it in all temps imagineable ..+ 40C - - 40C . I see no difference in my ammo ., then again I'm not interested in what the paper says , as long as my results remain minute of coyote .

I love H414 for the .243 Wins. Super accurate ball powder. I read it was way more temp sensitive than H4350 so I shot a few rounds over the chrony over about 30 degree temp range. Funny thing was, some of my cold shots were actually faster than the warm ones. Made no sense, so I quit worrying about it.

Where it comes into a problem is a lot of times you build up to a max load, say in cooler temperatures when its gets warm outside the pressure in that load can be higher and in some circumstances dangerously high. If i sight my rifle in summer and plan to hunt, I rezero it in colder temperatures with the round ill hunt with
