Default Bullet type

I'm just getting into reloading. Initially I will be reloading for a 30-06. My kit hasn't even arrived yet, so...

I'm wondering on bullet manufacture and type. There is a lot of hype out there about this or that bullet being the best...

What I'm looking for is a good one to start with. I can experiment later. My rifle tends to like heavier rounds, so I'll be looking at mid 160's to 180 grain bullets. I'm curious as to what people think of the TSX, and any others that people can recommend. It would be used for deer/elk/moose and paper.

Thanks

Rod

I'd start with something cheap to shoot. Once you learn a bit about loading and fine tuning for your rifle you could move into something expensive like the TSX. Hornady SST, SP and BTSP, Sierra bullets and the Speer line are alll easy on the pocket book and great shooting especially for the beginner.

X2 on the plainer bullets.
Dont turn your back on the Interlock Hornady's for game killing either.
Especially in a 30'06.
They are better than most people think.

Good to keep a journal. I have one for each rifle I reload for. Day I reloaded, what I did, powders & weights & bullets used. At the range I write down weather info, and how the reloads performed.

Try different bullets & weights and find the one that shoots the best in your rifle. I will suggest 165 or 180gr Accubonds, or maybe the TSX's.
