Default Sheep Hunters (and others), Just How Crazy Are You?

I had hoped that she wouldn’t notice.

My wife caught me sneaking back into the house last night after dark with no shoes on. She did an audible facepalm when I explained that I took the dog for a long walk barefoot along the trails behind our mountain home. The reason? To build up calluses on my feet to avoid blisters on my upcoming sheep hunt. She thinks I’m insane. I think I’m dedicated and focused...

What is the weirdest, most oddball thing that you’ve done in preparation for a hunt? Anyone cutting toothbrushes in half to save weight? Do you set a reminder on your phone to clip your toenails a week before a backpack hunt? Cut straps off your pack that you think aren’t needed, or tags off your shirts? Pound out 2000 vertical feet on the stair master in mountaineering boots?

Go ahead, let the sharing circle begin.

BTW: my feet are sore today.
