What a great event! I took the day off to attend. Great skinning demos and presentations. The day flew by! Can't wait to try out some of the tips I learnt....all be it on a very small scale ( my goal is to put up 5 yotes, 5 beaver and 15 rats this year ). A 9-5 job, young family and city living make it challenging to do much more realistically.

$5 to get into trade show. Best $5 I have ever spent. Guys are great they are more than willing to talk shop. Demos are great learned a tonne of tricks to make my life easier trapping in the field, skinning, fleshing, and fur handling. I am very impressed. The kids were having speed skinning competition for $200 for the winner. Showed proper skinning of a bear hide including the pad and claws. I learned something from every presenter. I was at the show for 8.5 hours and was never board. I felt i missed some stuff so im going back tomorrow. The adult speed skinning competition is tomorrow at 4pm can't wait to see the best of the best apply their trade. I should have gone years ago. Come down to the show. If you see me I am wearing a black Edmonton ekis hat with green hoodie say hi.

First day was great! Looking forward to tomorrow! This Drayton valley group have done a great job. Some great demos and excellent meals. The only down side is I keep getting out bid in the silent auction.

I'll be there with my wife, brown ATA shirt ( there might be hundreds of those though). Breakfast until 9, Jackie's skinning demos, interesting speakers until the competition at 11, lunch, fashion show, more speakers, demos and competition. Non stop, then the banquet at 6. See you there.

Default Prices?

How did everyone find the prices of items compared to Halfords, F&T, Snare shop, ect. I found I got some good deals on a fleshing knife and stretchers but not as good on traps and lure.

The fellow with the boards in the corner was reasonable. Trapper cords prices were comparable to his catalogue. I was at the convention for more knowledge tips tricks and networking. The show was great. Met a lot of interesting and knowledgeable people at the show. Lots of good info. I will go next year.

Had another great day! Gary and the team did a great job. The food was above and beyond! I picked up a couple of certificates for my fur handling and tired legs for spotting for the auction. What a good night! Thanks to all that can out to support the ATA and the journey!

What a blast. One of the best I've been to. I'm betting close to 400 at the banquet?

This was my first Rendezvous and it was fantastic! I gained so much knowledge in the two days that I feel a lot more confident going into my first full trapping season. Everyone that I had the opportunity to ask questions to were very happy to pass on their knowledge and advice and the demos/presentations were all excellent. It was really well organized and everything from the meals to the competitions was top notch......CUDOS to the organizers and everyone involved!

If you can make it to the next Rendezvous I'd highly recommend attending.

Another great Rendezvous. The trade fair, demos, family atmosphere, even the food was fabulous. But the part I always like the best is the people, the character of the people involved really is second to none. We are very proud to be associated.

Default Good Time

Had a really good time at the rendezvous. Learned a lot, Jackie amazes every time I see him work. Ryan was very impressive on the Coyotes, learned a lot from Him as well. Both very nice people that give advice willingly as well. Met a few AO members, tracked most down except Brian, I will have to catch up with him next year. I purchased the Muskrat adventure with Gary, looking forward to that. The Drayton Local did an unprecedented job organizing, and the meals were all top notch. There were not many dry eyes in the crowd when Alan Purdy received his Lifetime award. Calling Gordy a Golden Nugget in his life, said all that needed to be said about how much He appreciated that award. Hard to imagine catching 15, 000 squirrels in one season...catch, skin and board 125 a day for 120 days straight. WOW.
Looking forward to next year in La Biche already!

Spruce

I bought Gary's course first time around and it was money well spent. Other than having to put up with him of course!

Gary's a top notch guy and I knew this event was in good hands, but he and his team exceeded expectations. I haven't missed one for a long time and they really do just keep getting better but this will be tough to beat

The last two conventions I make a point of going into the convention building early in the Sunday am so I can chat with him and clean up. Allen always has a smile on his face and is willing to chat with anyone. And what he said that Gordy is a gold nugget is very true to anyone part of the Alberta Trappers Association.

Yes T-Bone very good people and a pleasure to visit with. A wealth of knowledge and experience. I think they are having turkey and trimmings up there this weekend.
