Default Ultrasonic Cleaning and Annealing Question

I've recently started to anneal my brass. I did an experiment with over 40 rounds and two different powder charges and found a decrease in SD (standard deviation) of around 10 fps in the brass that had been annealed. The brass was once or twice fired lapua that had not been cleaned. After shooting this brass I annealed all of it then decided to put it in my Ultrasonic Cleaner. The brass looks like new but all visual signs of annealing are gone.

My Question is this, Is there something in the ultrasonic cleaning process that might eliminate the benefits of annealing? Or is it simply cosmetic?
