Maybe Trudeau can pull himself away from his ill chosen bid at the UN Security Council long enough to deal with matters at home now his own are getting involved?

Nope - Won't happen...

More media spin. The people are not against the pipeline yet the media continues to make it look like the whole nation is against it.

This could get ugly fast unless the RC's start doing something, anything besides protecting the hoodlums and their illegal activities. Bizarre times were living in.

As anti-pipeline activists stage more blockades — including Wednesday’s traffic-snarling lockdown of Vancouver’s Granville Street Bridge — the protesters refuse to face an inconvenient truth:

The First Nations directly impacted by the Coastal GasLink pipeline — and the thousands of Indigenous people they represent — largely support the project.

The blockaders should look these people in the eye and tell them their projects should be cancelled, and their hopes and dreams for a better future dashed.

But they won’t. They wouldn’t dare.

Thumbs up

At least two dozen Wet’suwet’en workers will be on the job today as Coastal GasLink restarts pipeline work along the contested Morice River Service Road in northern B.C.

can someone explain why the rail protests are related to the LNG pipeline going through native territory? makes no sense to me that they're trying to obstruct the pipeline, but also end up obstructing the cn rail??

They are criminals. They didn't like the rule of law being followed on the LNG pipeline ROW so they are trying to make the rest of us follow their own arbitrary law.

Like little kids at the playground.

The part I really don't get is why so many Albertans are the least bit fussed about this. The protestors have shut down rail in Eastern Canada inconveniencing 10s of thousands of these Ontario and Quebec Sparkle Socks loving jackwads. The protests are about a pipeline that is 100% a B.C. pipeline project. The other people being blocked are the lower mainlanders who are 100% against pipelines, Alberta oil and anything they are told is bad. Personally I think it is just fine that all this is landing on these groups.

Like all are embarrassed that we allow blatant law breaking by special interest groups but since we clearly do at least the right people are getting shafted. Maybe they will learn something.

Listened to the BC Minster who has been meeting with these people for some time now. He says there are 13 Hereditary Chiefs involved. Eight support the project and five oppose it. I always thought majority ruled????

The rcmp and the opp are spineless weasels. They all took an oath to uphold the law of the land.

I was just following orders..........

We should follow the example of clearing out the protesters at Standing Rock in South Dakota...bring in the army!

With so much time to devote to being anarchists, they plainly have no jobs and are on the government teat through E.I or welfare. Bust ‘em all, I say, and cut off the dough. And the professional protesters from out of the country should be escorted back from whence they came, ejected forever. JMO

I made the mistake of watching a few of the protest video's this morning including the Parliament blockade.

Mostly young white well dressed kids, and a few old greyhairs with a few FN beating on drums and screaming.

Are these paid protestors too?

Watching the guy get arrested or detained again for moving garbage off the highway made me want to retch.

Every day we become more of a laughing stock, how is this helping the Idiot's agenda? He is off on his weekly vaca to a white sand beach somewhere.

This bs has to end. How many hundred trains are stalled as of today?

They sure found a way to cripple us this time, but I just can not wrap my head around RCMP allowing highway blockades.

I would take the ditch and go around if there was more than soft impact items to go through.

If you go through the ditch to go around them, I wouldn't be surprised if the police arrest you, based on the stupidity involved with arresting the guy for removing garbage off of the highway.

The thing with 'useful idiots', is that once they've accomplished the mission of those who've programmed them they still remain committed to the doctrine. Once I see how committed those protesters have become I understand how all manner of cults get followers, how faith healers get their suckers to fleece and how many others draw in those who wish to believe something. I think mainstream religion may have formed into what it is to try to keep such belief & herding tendencies of humanity focused on something with generally reasonable direction lest they fall into something else with far less reasonable direction.

Yeah, I can't wrap my ahead around that either.

What would the charge be, failing to comply with RCMP order?

Like I said before, that LEO was in a no-win situation, maybe he was on feces duty for something he did and this was his punishment?

Difficult to understand.

There are 20 bands that have agreed to the pipeline. 5 of their Hereditary chiefs are against this. Does that not mean 15 Hereditary chiefs support it??

You can be charged for littering for placing garbage on a roadway, you could be charged for illegally barricading the roadway to stop traffic, but what law are you breaking by removing garbage, or clearing a roadway to allow traffic? The odds are, he was not charged, because the prosecutor did not want to make a fool of himself by sending him before a judge based on a B.S. charge. It would actually be better if he was charged and sent to trial, as he could at least claim malicious prosecution, which wouldn't look good on the prosecutor.

Exactly, so why weren't the protestors charged?

That though is the question for the day.

Are the RCMP backing the protests?

So much for being Neutral. There should be an official enquiry on their actions.

An official inquiry into the RCMP? By who? It seems that the only people allowed to investigate the RCMP, are the RCMP. And if by some miracle, there is an outside inquiry, like the High River Inquiry, even if illegal acts occurred, nobody will admit who gave the orders, and nobody will be held accountable.

No worries: all is about to be corrected.
Justin is coming home this weekend and will meet with the "protesters";
wearing a few feathers, he will take a few selfies with them, give them a
drama teachers lecture, promise them more money and tell them how proud
of them he is that they haven't seriously injured anyone yet.
Then he will scurry back to parliament and lecture the tax payers about how
our insensitivity has shamed him while spending millions of our $$$, to buy
a seat in a toothless organization that should have been shut down years ago.
Ahh Justin, your such a limp wrist feather brain.

Your statement above isn't entirely correct. There are very many lower mainland/Vancouver Island folks that are on-board with pipelines and the stalled economies of our prairie neighbors. The indifference continually displayed by that clown in Ottawa to all of western Canada is unforgivable . . . . Alberta has many friends in BC.

Glad to hear it H L !
Even though it stands to reason that not everyone is "anti-everything" out there, it's a welcome reminder !

There's a video online of a woman claiming the RCMP pointed a gun at her

RCMP response
The RCMP stated that the rifle was never pointed at anyone at the checkpoint that day.

It said the tactical member of the force, seen in the video, was "using the rifle scope as a magnified observation device in a manner consistent with police training."

I'm not sure how to respond to that I've been scoped while hunting not a good feeling

If they used a riflescope mounted on a rifle to observe someone, then they did point the rifle at that person. They can play all of the word games they want, it doesn't change the facts. I wonder what the response would be if the person being scoped, did the same to the officer scoping them?

Given that these protestors are burning rail switches, taking the bolts out of bridge decks and supports and leaving hanging hinge trees along roadways I don't feel too bad for them being looked at through rifle scopes. They are a danger to the police and innocent public and should be treated as such.

I wouldn't have a problem if they did point firearms at these idiots, but spare the B.S.

“Trudeau has gone to the United Nations to shed tears about the history of Canada’s relationship with indigenous people,” said Tait. “And on the other hand, he’s essentially authorizing the use of force against our unarmed people for upholding our rights.”

what does this statement reek of?

more unfolding

In November, British Columbia became the first province in Canada to pass legislation promising to uphold the United Nations declaration on the rights of Indigenous peoples. But such promises seem empty in the wake of recent police actions, said Wickham.

“There were tactical teams walking around with semi-automatic weapons in my territory. Industry was allowed to come and go freely. White settlers were allowed to come and go freely,” she said. “But if you were a Wet’suwet’en person, you are not permitted on your own territory.”

I watched the video, and I saw no lives threatened, what I did see was a big attempt at drama, to make it appear that the police were threatening lives. Of course the police were armed, I would be too, if I was them walking into that situation, who knows if there are armed protesters in the vicinity prepared to use violence ?
