I would also use Ken. $1800 for a top guy wouldn't be bad, base work does add up and can be worth more than the cost to mount the fox.

Great find and hope you post pics once you have it done.

A friend of mine traps up at Prince George, BC. He gets quite a bunch of cross fox and silvers up there. Perhaps half of his fox are reds, then a third cross fox, and the remainder silvers, or something like that. That would be Mr. Trepus!

You should see the ranch version of the silver fox, actually the ranch fox in any colour. First, they are massive, bigger than coyotes? As big anyways. Then they are b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l !!! I absolutely love the pales in both the silvers and the crosses.

Then there's the blue fox... the size of wolves!!!

While I was there, I bought a selection of wild cross fox and otters. Going to sell them thru our supply business. Just got tanned, are on route to Hays.

Cross fox anyone???

Even tho it literally did!!!

So, my advice, go to the shops and look close at the guys coyotes, fox, wolves, and cats, and see how you like the faces. Then pick the best guy.

Man... lucky you! I've gone 15,000 coyotes or something and never a cross fox, silver fox, or black coyote.

Every guy can mount it but only a few can make the face look good which is the most important.

Just received pics from Darren @solitude taxidermy. My fox is completed and man does it look spectacular. I'm very happy I took it to Darren and his wife as they did a job on the fox that surpasses my expectations.

Well done solitude taxidermy.

I don't know how to post pics but would send them to someone that does. Thanks

Looks like he did a good job, it's all in the face, and then it's all in the eyes, and he did very good!

Congrats!

Looking at lots of pics on the confuser and you are correct with the face. Some beautiful foxes out there but the face just isn't there. I think Darren did a helluva fine job. Almost seems foxes and other dogs are one of the more difficult ones to get right.

Default Silver fox

Here is the only silver fox i have seen and it was being fed. It was the same size as any other fox I have seen unless it was not an adult.

A really good read about foxes, and the staggering prices they once brought.

I'm always interested, as my Dad (who started with absolutely nothing) bought and paid for his first farm and set of machinery with a single winters catch of foxes in the '30s.

Not at all.
With the hours involved you will get what you paid for.
