Skinner for a silver fox?
I found a silver fox dead in the ditch today and am wondering if someone in the beaverlodge,Hythe, demmit area could skin it for me? It would be greatly appreciated.
Are these type of foxes rare? I don’t know it I should get it stuffed or made into a rug.
Thanks

Trapped one down here back in the 70s, and sold it for $360.00 which was a ton of money back then. Now I wish I would have kept it and had full mount done, as I have never seen one since... a few cross fox, but never a silver again.. Blaine you have found a treasure, do a full mount,

It's a beautiful animal for sure Bob. I've never seen one before. I'm not so sure I've got a spot in the house for it and I know I haven't got $1800 to spend on it. I will check with another taxidermists that I've used before and see what I would cost to get it mounted. If it's out of my price range it might be a traveling fox to Coutts.

Had a good talk with saddleup. He made up my mind that I’ll get it mounted. Thanks bob for talking me into using up all my browny points. Lol. Well the wife has been mad before and a suppose she’ll be mad again.
Gonna have to figure out how I want it to look. Was figuring maybe a corner mount on a snow drift with a rabbit or ptarmigan. Thoughts?
A guy can’t really see in the pics but the tip of his tail is bright white.

At least you know why she’s mad. Most times my wife is long over being mad before I figure out what she was even mad about in the first place...
And as much as my wife is not in love with mounts in general I’d be ponying up to get that fox done too. It’s a beauty.

Really shop around for your taxidermist, seems like small mammals are the hardest for a taxidermist to bring back to life??? At least from what I have seen in time. Often everything looks okay except the face, but the face is what brings the whole animal to life. Ideally the face doesn't end up looking like a taxi'd critter that got hit by a truck! Even tho it literally did!!!
So, my advice, go to the shops and look close at the guys coyotes, fox, wolves, and cats, and see how you like the faces. Then pick the best guy.
Man... lucky you! I've gone 15,000 coyotes or something and never a cross fox, silver fox, or black coyote.

What a find Norwest. Hit by a vehicle I imagine. Sad way for the little fellow to leave this plain.
Setting him up in a full mount would show great respect I feel and look forward to seeing him puffed up in his full majestic beauty,
Unless I missed it, was it male of female?

I'm figuring it got hit but didn't appear to be by a wheel thankfully. I don't know if it's male or female. I neglected to look. I've got a good taxidermist in mind. I've just got to see if he'll do it for me. I honestly didn't know what I found until I posted on here. I've seen a few foxes around and do my best to keep them around. It's a nice cap on the end of hunting season to find it.
Is there a special permit I need to send it to the taxidermist?

Yes I believe you need a "Found Dead Wildlife Permit" for any pickups. Contact your local F&W office.

Yes a permit is required but I did find a great taxidermists to do the work. I didn't ask how much but I know it'll be worth it.

Spit out some of my coffee....that is a lot of doggies! I caught a couple cross fox last year, and have seen one silver running about (coyotes likely got him). I think the further North you get, the more common the cross and silver are. Friends Kid shot a blackie last week, those are rare anywhere you go.
