carbon fibre from Swarovski, if you buy a cheap tripod you will buy several more before that spotter is wore out. trust me, cause thats the route i have taken. Think of putting a nice camera on a crappy tripod, great camera but it shakes producing crappy images, its not the camera's fault.

Thanks harv...and I've sent you a PM for an option on the tripod you are looking for.
To address the OP I'd recommend this https://www.mcbaincamera.com/product..._id=1219610.03
We expect them any moment and you can PM me for AO pricing if you're interested.
As to Swarovski tripods...don't.
Swarovski makes the best spotting scopes out there in my opinion.
They don't make their own tripods...they have them built by one of the major tripod manufacturers (at various time Manfrotto or Gitzo). They are a great tripod...but about 30% more money than when you buy them from the company of origin. I'm all for supporting Swarovski, but not paying their prices for someone else's product.

Hey Bob is that the head you would recommend too? Curious as to how good a ball head would be for glassing vs a pan head. I’ve only ever used a pan head but wonder if a ball head might be a better option?

My group of hunting buddies got a Sirui carbon fiber tripod for our Leica spotting scope. I think its 2.5 pounds and it is pretty slick.

If you’re used to a pan/tilt head at first the ballhead will seem awkward, but once you get used to it they really work well and are more compact.
I used pay/tilt head since the 80’s for my photography, and later my spotting scope.
Switched to a ball head about ten years ago and wouldn’t go back.
But this is one of those areas where it is personal preference.

Depends on your budget, good ones run anywhere from $125 to $700, McBain camera is a good place to look, swarovski starts at $635 and goes up from there, endless choices.
I have an extendable aluminum one from McBain camera that I bought 35 years ago, think I paid about $75 at the time, still going strong, collapses down to about 15" and has 4 sections on the legs. The one below looks like a newer version of the one I have

Has anyone ever tried the bogpod tripods with their switcheroo set up? Seems like a decent idea spotting scope one minute rifle rest next. Don't know anyone using one and can't decide if overpriced gimmick or good idea...

slik 624 or 634 cf
the 634 is standing height capable but easy to mod to sitting height and end up lighter than the 624 as one less set of collars but is a little longer, just remove the neck extension and the bottom one or two sets of legs and keep in a ziplock somewhere in case you wanna make it standing height for family photo's etc.
