Is it possible to overstretch beaver pelts?

Yes. Stretching the pelt tight may result in a larger beaver, but you would most likely get downgraded because pelt density has been diminished.

What I do is stretch the skin comfortably from head to tail on the board and then go two lines smaller. This will stretch the skin without over stretching.

Yes both Rob & trapper92 are right on the mark.

Do as Trapper92 outlined and you will have the right size for stretching, this will stop you from getting down graded as Rob noted.

Good post for newer trappers
