Default Canadian shot in Mexico

https://beta.ctvnews.ca/national/can...1_5750323.html

Something smells fishy. I’d be surprised if the shooter is Canadian.

Very distinctive looking guy. Canadian Border Services has video of every passenger heading south.

. I’d be surprised if the shooter is Canadian.

Could even be a Mexican, betting he didn't bring that piece in on Sunwing.
Son was in Playa over Christmas, went for a walk in the Jungle, met the Cartel and was told to get lost in no uncertain terms.

Actually stayed at this resort when it first opened. Got a great price but now it’s very expensive. Your all inclusive gives you access to all the Xcaret parks for free while you stay. From the story, it was probably 3 Canadians getting into with it a Mexican (cause he was able to bring a gun to the resort). Things got heated and shots were fired. Kind of different for Mexico as it is usually foreigners getting caught in crossfire if anything.

Two dead. Didn't take the honest authorities in Mexico long to learn their nicknames and how very dangerous they were ???

Three Canadian visitors have been shot by a lone gunman in their hotel in the Mexican resort town of Playa del Carmen – in an attack security officials are calling targeted and alleging involved individuals with criminal records.

One of the tourists died of their injuries while being transported to hospital following the incident on Friday, according to the Quintana Roo state public security secretary, Lucio Hernández Gutiérrez, who confirmed the nationality of the victims.

The state prosecutor’s office later tweeted that a second Canadian had died of their injuries.

The first person who died – identified as ATCH – “had a criminal record: drug trafficking, use of a false identity, among other things”, the office said.

ATCH “was considered a very dangerous person in Canada”, state prosecutor Óscar Montes de Oca Rosales told Radio Fórmula.

The second deceased victim, RJD, “also had a criminal history”, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Information shared on social media showed a lone attacker dressed in a grey tracksuit and brandishing a pistol on the grounds of the Xcaret hotel. A video posted on Twitter showed people shrieking as a victim received first aid. The video later panned to show two more victims lying wounded by the pool – one heavily bleeding.

Wouldn't be good for the tourist business if they were just innocent bystanders.

Need more info but not sure we will get anything near the truth from the Mexican authorities, I doubt that this guy just walked up to 3 Canadian tourists in an upscale resort and shot them for no reason but anything I say about anything would just be pure speculation TTYL

Be tough to hide that in a track suit without anyone noticing.

Some places are just greasy.

We travelled all over that neck of the woods and even rented a scooter for the day....one place we thought we would stop for a brewslkie had some welcoming people with the stare....off we went.

Look for trouble and you will find it....anywhere!

The victims had records drug dispute ? cartel?

The Quintana Roo state prosecutor’s office said via Twitter that the suspect in the shooting was also apparently a guest and Canadian police informed them he was a known felon with a long record related to robbery, drug and weapons offenses. The office said both of the dead also had criminal records.

Isn't obvious? They are very successful personal trainers! That and they have changed their ways but are still judged by their Criminal past, which they feel is very unfair.

As for where you hide a gun in a track suit, the answer can be found in that old joke: Is that a Pistol in your pocket or are you just happy to see me!

Thumbs up Criminals killing criminals FTW!

Dead drug dealers?
It's even better that this happened while they were vacation in another country, it doesn't need the involvement of our legal system, or our tax dollars to babysit them in Club Fed.

If they turn out to be law abiding citizens on holidays that got into an altercation with a gun toting criminal, then decided to escalate it because it was 3 against 1?

Don't be surprised if Trudeau intervenes, calls them victims, pays them $10 million each.

Call me a disbeliever, but there are two things that run Mexico, tourism and the cartels and neither shall interfere with the other.

Just a little Cartel action nothing to see hear folks

"The investigations indicate that this attack was motivated by debts that arose from transnational illegal activities that the victims participated in," said Oscar Montes, the chief prosecutor of the Quintana Roo state. "The information (is) that they were involved in weapons and drug trafficking, among other crimes."

Montes said the attack had been planned for almost a month by a cartel or gang that had not previously been known to operate in the area. But in keeping with standard procedure, he declined to name the gang.

The attack took place Friday at the Hotel Xcaret resort is south of Playa del Carmen. The attackers apparently had guest wrist bands to enter the resort.
