Need a Family Doctor
Hey guys my doctor has retired and now need to find a new one. He was great , caring and took the time with you. I had him since 1987.Anyway can anybody recommend a family doctor on the south east side of Edmonton? They are so hard to find that will take new patients. I have read lots of reviews on the net for some of these doctors and was surprised at how many poor ratings a lot of these doctors get.
Thanks for the help.

Hi Sitting Bull, having the same issue - Every time I find a good one, they retire. Been without a family doctor for several years now. We've been going to the local health clinic in the interim.

What is good for one may not be good for someone else.
Go to www.cpsa.ca
You will be directed to a directory of all doctors in Edmonton and what they
specialize in. You can also phone them and they will they who is taking new patients.

My Dr retired last year, my clinic called me and they hooked me up with a new Dr that replaced my old one.

Going back a number of years, I found my doctor through the link that superuke posted above. Registering puts you on a waitlist, it took about 3 months before I got the phone call, but the doctor turned out to be fantastic.

When I was closing in on 50 the prospect of future DRE's came to mind.
Found a much younger female doctor with very slim fingers and a great sense of humor.
Should be quite easy to outlive me

I can't help you find a new one but this is something we are all going to have to face. My doctor and my chiropracter are my age, in their 60s. My chiropracter is cutting back hours, I guess I should start looking for new health care providers.

Last March my excellent doctor in Millwoods suddenly up and quit at a ripe age of 51. I went to that listing site and could only find about 5 doctors taking new patients, most did not have good reviews. Settled on one just out of school, definitely lack of confidence and experience. All I can say is good luck, something like winning a lottery now.

Not to alarm you, but if your doctor is wearing overalls, they're a vet.

Well, at least you’d have an “in” for some Ivermectin so you don’t have to worry about dying of the ’Vid….

Good doctors will prescribe it. My brother went to a wedding on Vancouver Island. Everyone had to show negative test, proof of vax and wear a mask the whole time. Every single person there caught covid. Every. Single. One.
My bro's doc prescribed him ivermection. Less than 48 hours later he was back to 100%.

Please do not support 'Horse Dewormer" for Covid treatment. Ontario is considering taking Medical license from Quack Doctors that recommend Ivermcetin.
If your new doctor recommends it 'Run Like Hell"

Please don't buy into anti-ivermectin, "horse dewormer" narrative. Do your own research beyond what CBC and CNN want you to believe.

This would mean that both the doctor and pharmacist would be breaking the rules as outlined by Health Canada. I wouldn't use the term good when describing your brothers doctor.
As stated in the article:
In considering these standards and how they relate to the use of ivermectin for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19, CPSA and ACP have directed all physicians and pharmacy professionals to adhere to the Health Canada advisory about ivermectin. Ivermectin must not be prescribed or dispensed, in any form, for the prevention or treatment of COVID-19.

Lots of Doctors are doing interviews before accepting new patients. Guess they want to know your history before they accept. They might not be able to accommodate your needs. After all they are general practitioner's and not specialists. Good luck in your search. I know it will not be easy. My doctor will be retiring soon and I might ask him if he can refer me to another. Fingers crossed

In October I got a letter from my longtime Dr that I would have to find another dr as he was dropping patience to start a Botox clinic. He was my Dr in McMurray and started a practice in St Albert which worked great as I left McMurray in 03. Anyway Dr Al Doori took me on at the Ellerslie Medical Center and he’s been very good. My parents also see him. He was taking new patience then and might be now. There are other Dr’s in that Center that I do know are taking new patience as there is a sign there…. Good luck. I hope you find someone..

Try the east Edmonton family care clinic. The one by Borden park, not the east Edmonton health center. The doctors and nurses practitioners use the urgent care facility during the day. The are much better doctors than the ones that have their own clinic in a strip mall.

Well I found one close to home. He was taking new patents and also is a walk in clinic. That I am not used to and don't like. I had an 11am appointment and actually did not see him till noon.otherwise he was ok, no real complaints so far although the reviews for him and the clinic are not all that impressive. So far so good, time will tell.
Thanks to all who reached out to me via PM as well as those who posted replies.
