Default garage door opener question

Door will not open using my fob unless I have truck on driveway. Put a new battery in my remote fob and even put a new battery in the code pad outside of garage. I lube the belt and entire hardware inside. It used to open as I drove 4-5 houses away from mine. A distance issue ????
Any ideas?

Possibly interference from another source. This link provides some possible examples:

Mine has worn out and doesn't work properly. I suggest getting a new one. Amazon has good prices. Try reprogramming the Fob with the actual unit. Pad outside of the garage has nothing to do with your fob. There is a purple ( could be a different color based on brand)programming button on the unit. Basically hold it in till a light comes on and then press the button on your fob to program. As mentioned above, you might have some interference from your neighbor.

We have 2 doors.
My wife’s Buick will open her door 3-4 houses away.
My chev has to be in the driveway.
I’m never in that big of a hurry that it bothers me, more of an annoyance.
Would not know any different if the Buick did the same.

Could be interference from one vehicle moreso compared to a different vehicle, could be battery, could be interference from other devices in your area .... this is a situation where you will have to trial and error stuff.

My truck is the same way, sometimes can hit the button turning into cul de sac and other times I have to be right up to the door before it triggers.

Not sure why, at the end of the day, the worst case is, I wait a few seconds as the door comes up ....

I guess you can use updated technology to open your garage door from Mexico if you wanted to, but you have to determine if it's worth the expense versus the improvement you get.

Thanks for replies all. I could try the code option program in the truck itself but always held off on that for security reasons and used to just take my remote in with me.

Try extending you antenna to outside the door, you will get more range

I had range issues on one of my door openers, turned out it was because I didn't use an incandescent bulb. The LED and CFL bulbs have enough radio interference that my opener would not work unless I was real close to it.

Pulled both bulbs but they were not even working. I installed a central vac system in the garage a few years back and will check if that is causing the interference.

Re-invigorating old post as my garage door opener is now quite weak. Changed the battery. No difference. Used to work 3 houses away. Now only once I’m on the driveway.

What’s a good Amazon one that someone has tested with real world use and has worked good?

Spring broke. Had guy in to deal with that ( I am too much of a chicken for that DYI ).

He noticed I had CFL lights in the opener and asked what my range was like. Seemed very surprised when I told him I had over 100m of range.

How old are your opener and remotes?
