Default Barrel fluting

I recently acquired a savage 10TR .308win. It currently has a heavy 24” barrel that I would like to lighten up by fluting the barrel. How much weight would fluting take off and who would you recommend for the work. I live in the Red Deer area .

Thanks in advance.

It will only be a few ounces depending on amount of flutes depth and type ie spiral diamond or straight. Your best bet if cutting weight is the only goal is getting a new barrel or a second lighter rifle that meets your weight specs.

Savage 10 TR weighs 9.6 lbs. It's never going to be a light rifle. The most cost effective route is to sell or trade it in on the Savage 110 lightweight model.
