Default King Charles III crowned

Kinda surprised nobody has mentioned the Coronation of a new king AO yet. Not much for the monarchy myself, but having grown up in Canada I remember it. Out of curiosity was there any “special” events held commemorating the event in your area or for the most part was it just another day? It does seem outside of a few days each year the royalty has faded in importance.

Traderal, I completely agree. Embarrassing. Charles never deserved Lady Di for even a day, yet he screwed around with that…

He should have deferred to his son, Prince William. I bet history would have remembered him more fondly had he done so.

As it is, I see Charlie Brown more fit to be King.

I thought he should have gone with King Arthur . The reign of Charles ll didn't end well, defeated by Cromwell and had to flee the country. Camilla ? Another Mistress that slept her way to the top.

Looking at some of the coronation pictures she looks as devious as Hillary Clinton Nancy Pelosi Kamala Harris and Michelle Obama. Scary women to cross….

Totally agree, I'm sure she has had to dodge a whole bunch of bullets to get where she is in that cesspool. Queen by her own design.

Why would anyone care about an outdated tradition that spends millions to put a family above all others due to who they were born to? And now the king is a foolish idiot that doesn't deserve any respect at all.

Did Shaw cable really need to use 50 channels to broadcast that. Glad I had yardwork to do and then watch some recorded sports. Oh ya, must not forget the recorded Three Stooges episodes.

At the risk of turning this thread into a soap opera, I don’t think Charles ever wanted Dianna in the first place. he wanted Camila from the start and was forced into marrying Dianna who was a loon in her own right.
Regardless of how Camilla looks ( or Charles for that matter). They seem to be completely happy together.
Charles was the rightful heir to the throne and has every right to take the crown even if it is only for a short time . Lord knows he waited in the wings long enough.
Imagine ,your parents die and and everyone around you judges whether you are fit to receive your inheritance based on what your wife looks like or the public perception of her.
The difference between Dianna and Camilla really boils down to marketing.
The shallow minded public fell for Dianna because she was cute and well marketed ,and when she died they loved her even more .
Personally I always thought Diana was a spoiled little twit and she looked like Gretzky which was weird too.

Wow, 23 more anti-monarchists to add to the list going to the Tower. I lost count of the naysayers commenting on the CBC news site.

Are you okay?

Back away from all ledges.

Stay away from bridges.

Store all pointy and/or sharp objects safely.

Can someone call for Parkland County mental health workers?

A mod is having an episode.

My thoughts are with your family.

———————————-

Of course, if you tell us you are joking or that you just secretly think Camilla is a hottie we can forget the mental health workers.

Monarchy is on its last legs in terms of relevancy, and Charles is universally unpopular. I do think he sould have passed it on to Prince William in an attempt to reinvigorate the Monarchy after the drama of Andrew, and then Harry’s shenanigans with his actress hottie.

Life is not always fair.

Nor is it always equal.

He should have passed. Instead, he is little more than a caricature, and loyal countries like Canada have not even said that they will put his mug on a bill.

—————————————-

I do understand where you are coming from, and am sure many share your thoughts.

Constitutional Monarchy is a terrible and expensive system of government - unless you compare it to the alternatives.
Imagine what Canada might be like if Turdo was president...

Just another financial burden that provides no value or service to Canada.

Would not miss the monarchy if they disappeared tomorrow.

Well said. PM me some time and I'll treat for Chinese at Bing's after an outing on Spring or Muir!

There are some that still like the pomp and pageantry my wife had a hen party at 3:30 AM oohing at the spectacle drinking tea with biscuits for 4 hours.

I managed to sleep through most of it Camila was the hot button topic, what a waste of money.
