If you are so darned offended by being called a newfie go the human rights commisions of Alberta and Kanada.
The human rights commisions are always looking for victims to pay for their fat xxs gross paid positions.
You will probably be accepted by the human rights commision while us Albertans will be called rubes, rednecks, inbred jeds, oil pigs.....and everything the Toronto Star and Newfoundland Gazzette, if they have a newspaper, can produce.
I await the day when the word newfie is banned.
BTW:I like eating yearling bulls balls fried in beer and butter. I am sure that would go over well on a byyyz forum.
My pards like Moose tongue and nose. Warning: don't leave that Moose head in the back of the truck outside the High Praire bar. You know what will happen.

Sort of like Elk velvet and Bear gall bladders.
Only way to solve the problem that might happen in your pants when eating those rutting animals is cook those rutting parts in saltpeter.
That will get rid of that little glint in your ummm eye.
Hmm. I wonder if this rutting meat works on human females too?

Can we go to nfld and get a hunting licence ? how long do you have to be a resident to apply as a resident hunter. These guys show up in august<newfies> apply for a alberta win card and are forever in the system. providing they keep your win card up to date. They get into the draft lottery system and can keep up there priorities from the rock via home computer, when they come back here to work every 6 months or so they sit back and laugh at albertas slack hunting requirments. What happened to the Alberta advantage? Luckily they are happy with gut piles.

So because I get ****ed off by the word Newfie, that makes me a whiner? God, the internet tough guys on here make me laugh so much, some of you guys are pathetic, someone has a staunch opinion on something and that makes them a whiner? Really? Stay in your lane dudes, if I called some of you a Uke, Bohunk, Kraut, Chug or Gook, I can keep going, you'd all freak out. But because some Baywop from Sops Arm thinks it's funny when everyone laughs at him, we all get painted with the same ignorant brush. The word irritates me, end of story. Just my opinion. Ok, lets go, hurl your insults, my skin is almost as thick as your brain!

As I have stated before I have worked with some fine maritimers.
They as well as myself would not be offended by being called a "Newfie"
Same as "hurtin Albertan", or "albortion"
Inbreeder maybe....Newfie no.

Some maritimers might get offended if you called them newfies and some newfies might get offended if you called them maritimer as Newfoudland is not part of the maritimes. lol
I am form Newfoundland and I am not offended by being called a newfie but every one is a little different. The thing that gets under my skin is stereo typing. Just because you see one person from a certin place doing something dosen't mean everyone from there dose it. No not all newfies are stupid, not everyone from bc smokes pot and not everyone from Alberta is a redneck.
The world would be alot better place if stereo typing wasn't a part of it.

Those Ukes, Bohunks, Krauts, and Gooks BUILT this province when is was super poor, and before your kind came to parasitize our most gratuitous request to share in the wealth of our resources.
We were very friendly and outgoing to you people at the beginning, but like you and your buddies are doing to us great Albertans with these recent postings, there becomes a point where we will not tolerate your insults any longer.
Like I have posted before on this site. If you don't want to live like an Albertan go back to where you came from.

My wife and inlaws are newfie's.They call themselves Newfies and I have never heard them nor any other Newfies get offended by the term.
So if a Canadian (any Canadian) feels that the word "Canuck" is offensive, then everyone should stop using it?

X2.... Alberta is more then geography. We had a culture before the last oil boom. Stop trying to change us. If you don't like the way we speak, I bet your 20 year old Dodge Caravan would love to go back to that Salty air.
To the Newf's not offended by words and love Alberta & its people...stay a while - I think we are gonna get along!

newfie
I had a whole crew of newfs, that worked for me for a year and a half. They were awsome, they called themselves newfie, they made and told newfie jokes, the only thing that, I noticed about them, was they wanted to be left alone at night and only be around each other, for beers. I told the other crews to stay away from their camp, and everything was cool. I am still good friends with them all. There are a lot of issues with coming here, and being able to hunt, to easy, and coming here and doing the EUI issue, but that ain't there fault. It is our government, they just find the loop holes, and use them. My only problem with the easterners, is when they had a big project on the go a year or two back, and they protested in front of a motel, housing Albertan's who were working there.....what the hell? We never done that to you? As far as nicknames go...Newfie, bohunk, canuck,redneck,...can go on forever.....we can all live with them....some other peoples, not mentioning any race, or religion, use it their advantage, and personal gain. The rest of us just live with it. So airborne, just live with it!

kraut
checking in. I could care less if you called me a kraut (German), or a binder pilot (fr Saskatchewan)....I prefer to go by Albertan now...or whatever...just don't ever...and I mean EVER call me a liberal. That will set me OFF. lol. nah...just kidding. I've known a lot of newfies...and they never once considered it a slur...and used it to describe themselves frequently and registered no protests when I addressed them as such.

being from newfoundland originally this thread is very entertaining, here's the deal with the whole newfie thing to me.it's not the actual saying newfie that ever offends me it's the tone of voice used when saying it,if it's condecending then it's offensive if it's joking then it's not,and we can call each other what we want how can someone be condecending about a place when they are from the same place, that said it doesn't offend me if someone says it to me in a bad way it just shows their ignorance and stupidity.

The funniest thing I have ever read on a hunting forum. I'm dying.

Yes the goverment is to blame for the lack of restrictions to get a hunting licence but can we<albertans> get a resident tag for moose in nfld? And what is that exploding blueberry thing they all have on there front licence plates?

If you use the term newfie in a way as stupid newfie , drunken newfie etc this would be a slur, newfie alone is fine as far as most folks would agree. But no one has answered if we can go to nfld and gat a moose licence.

Why we pickin on Newfies anyway? Could have been a couple of orientals and from what a friend told me, after visiting China, they'd have hauled away the whole thing.
