Default Waterfowl movement

has anyone further north (I'm around Calgary) seen movement by the birds? Its not looking good down here for water holes, a lot of the little sloughs and ponds are dried right up.

Arctic birds are arriving in Northern AB, but, it is still early yet. Only thing around for the next 3 wks is usually just local stuff, which will just move to bigger water when the small ponds are dried up. May see some early migrators if there is not enough harvested land up north in the first half of Sept, but, don't bet on it. May be that not all the youngsters have full flight feathers yet , or they are still testing them out.

East Central very little movement yet. Not to many local birds either, biggest flock I have seen in the field is maybe 100 birds.

Default Wavies

It is very early but I heard some in the air last night. We have some water in the larger sloughs.

High Prairie has some smaller flocks coming through now. I've only seen Canadas though, no specks yet.
