Default New hunter to AB

Moved in a few years ago from BC. I've decided to start hunting again, but unsure where to go. I have scouted a couple spots while camping, but could use a little input.

With out giving away your secret spots....can someone give me an idea of some crown land 3hrs +/- from Edmonton, where I can camp and hunt general tag Whitetail?

I didn't submit for LE cause I'm not sure where to enter for, so just general rifle tags for me.

Thanks for your input!

I've hunted a lot around fox creek area in the past. Go north or south and you will find lots of deer. My hunting buds and I have taken 20 whitetails from these areas over the past 7-8 years. Lots of cutlines and plenty of road access due to the oil companies. You should do okay up there.
Cheers

George, not sure what to look at here.
I had a pretty thorough look around the Ab site. Lots of info, but not much telling about specific WMU'S . I've heard rumors about harvest stats, but can't find that info either.

Can you be more specific with your link?

In another subject; Did you find a hunting partner?

Looks like I've narrowed down my areas.

I've done some scouting in 337 between Logpole and Drayton, there was alot f deer sign with some decent bucks. But it sounds like a pretty busy area ("a war zone") was posted another thread. Is this really the case? Is it mainly road hunters? The area I know of doesn't have a lot of road acsess, so it's either walk in at dawn or quad in afternoon.

Choice two is Between Boyle and Lac la biche. Seems like far enough north to escape the road hunters out for a day trip. And from what I've read a pile of deer. But I've never been there, and don't know if there much acsess. From satellite it looks like a lot of muskage and small lakes. Do you need an Argo to get around? Looks like alot of crown land?

Just lucking for some input, and thanks in advance if you decide to post!

Gman,

The area looks good, the season has started up already. I want to head out first week of November. Do think the area will be shot up by then?
