Q#1- No.
Q#2- When their antlers fall off.
Were hitting the peak of the rut, The boss bucks are busy with the does that are ready to bread, often keeping that girl tight in cover until she is bred. The little boys are hanging around, looking for an opportunity, or hanging out with the girls that aren't ready yet. Over the next week, as most of the does are bred, the big boys will be travelling more, trying to find the last few receptive does.
Keep rattling, especially late in the month.
Right now, I look for a family of does, and stick with them, there usually is a big guy around with one of the ladies, tucked away nearby.
Last night I passed over 20 little bucks running all over the place, one walked within 20 yards of the truck while I was getting ready. I spotted four does with three bucks, snuck up to them and waited. Sure enough, back in the trees, a WIDE old palmated 3x3 with no brow tines had a girl holed up. While the other deer were busy fighting and running around, the big old boy and his date were just laying low, gettin' busy.
